This add-on has many features a lot would love, it just doesn't have the one I want : being able to drag and drop a tab to assign this tab to the tile I dropped it into.
There's not such an extension for Chrome, so I've moved to Firefox because of this extension. :)
I love Tile Tabs, extremely useful, but I don't know why, I can't scroll horizontally in my tiled tabs anymore...Am I the only one with this bug?
No about:Config changes
Tile Tabs last Version
My Theme isn't the issue
What could it be??
This is a great piece of software!
Just what I was looking for, thanks a lot !!
I love this add-on... it takes a little time to figure out, but once you do, it's great!
Several of the features I use very frequently broke when I upgraded to Firefox 31. These include:
- Shift+Click+Drag to open link in new tab
- Right Click > Open Link in New Tab
It appears from a few other reviews that I'm not the only one to have experienced some breakages since FF31. I emailed their support email (email@example.com) last week, but have not yet heard back. I implore all current and prospective users of this add-on to email them as well, so that we can keep using all the great features!
A time-saver, makes my days happier. Or at least it did until FF31 came around and broke it :( dragging links to the sides no longer works, not on FF31/Beta/Aurora. This was a killer feature that allowed me to browse the web and easily organize content I wanted to read at the same time, great tool for productivity and much more.
EDIT: Developer has fixed this (as stated below), this app is awesome m8 I r8 8/8 gr8 tech.
This was a surpise find, a real senredipity. Empower yourself and use this add on.
I've been using this extension happily for a few years, definitely one of the most important parts of my toolkit.
Unfortunately, lately I've encountered a bug where Tiletabs will interpret certain key combos as tile commands. E.g. CTRL + C, instead of copying what I have highlighted, will tile my current tab. Sometimes it's an F key instead of a CTRL combo, seems random.
The problem is fixed temporarily by reinstalling but within a week or so it occurs again. I have disabled all shortcut keys in the options but that doesn't make any difference.
I would give 5 stars easily if not for this issue.
EDIT: Updating my review to 5 stars as this issue has been fixed in the latest update. Thanks for the quick fix! Not sure what I would have done without it.
Very good!!! I use it almost everyday! :D
Well, well! This is AWESOME and EXTENSIVE at the same time! Good job!
A few things though:
1. Might this be simplified a bit more? No one will master all the shortcuts. Could these shortcuts be placed in menus and sub-menus without creating a behemoth of a menu tree diagram?
2. Is there a way to zoom one tab only such that when another tiled tab is activated, it does not assume the zoom level of the previous tile? I'll appreciate your help here.
Now I'll give you FIVE STARS without thinking twice for the amount of effort that must have gone into this. It is spectacular in the possibilities offered. Where you will mostly get some demerits is in the level of complexity, including the number of short cuts to memorize. With respect to this, I'll give you three stars. Don't feel bad about this at all. You did a great job. All I'm saying is that with improvement in the area of simplicity, you will make a great add-on even better.
lags if your computer sucks, but if you can run it it's freaking leet.
I've been using this extension for a while and it seems to do its job, especially after you've fixed an annoying bug with scroll positions. However, I've noticed something strange recently. I opened ~200 tabs in multiple panorama groups and decided to switch to a different group by typing a title of the tab (from a different panorama group) in the address bar and pressing "Go to tab" or whatever that option is called in English version of FF. After I pressed "Go to tab" browser stopped responding for a couple of seconds and then the following message showed up (I am using localized version of FF, this is a translation):
Scenario is not responding
It looks like that scenario on this web-page is not responding. You can stop it now or continue and see if it can finish its job.
So, it looks like this scenario has something to do with Tile Tabs. The thing is, I have Tile Tabs activated in Addons menu but I didn't open any tiles/layouts at all during that session! I thought that if I don't use any of this addon's functions, it is not loaded. But it looks like there is some strange script that does something without my permisson. What is this scenario and what does it do? Like I said. I didn't open any layouts or any other addon function, I just wanted to switch to a different panorama group.
This is one of those wonderful extensions that you don't know how much you need until you actually use it. Now I wish I had started using it years ago. The documentation on the main page is comprehensive and clear, and it makes it a lot simpler to use this addon than it might appear at first. The developer seems to have thought of almost everything, which is really nice for customizers like me. I have only one request: Could there be a couple of (configurable) hotkeys for switching between tiles? One hotkey would switch the focus to the next tile, while the other would switch the focus to the previous tile. This would come in very handy for users like me who don't like to take their hands away from the keyboard.
uma extençao muito útil e funcional no Firefox 29
I only use laptops most of the time so a split screen would be more than enough for me. Works great on FF 28
Impressive add-on more useful for windows 8 users
Imprescindible, si eres de a los que les viene bien tener dividida la ventana del navegador con dos pestañas. Puede ser una ayuda enorme.
This makes Mozilla a versatile warrior
Muito bom! Era o que eu precisava, funciona perfeitamente.
Works as advertised. For me, personally, things got a bit too complicated, so I removed it.
This is to my opinion a very useful add-on, as I would like to integrate this with Vimperator.
First of all one would like to assign a tab without activating it trough the command line (auto-completed). A parameter 'were' could indicate left, right above or below: i.e. "-w=r"
Secondly, as the documentation says, one would like to open a link in either the 'next' or the 'previous' tile. In stead of clicking links, Vimperator* narrows down with key(board/word) selection (hints), before performing the specified action. In this case opening a url in an existing specific tiled background tab. An 'extended hint' can be created to do just that! So while one retains a list of links in the active tab tile while opening a few of them one-by-one in the background tab matching the neighboring left-, right- and/or topmost tile of the tiled layout, using just the keyboard, one has a much better focus.
Is the source available? Again, great work!
*(Pentadactyl, and others)
Like this. I have 4 cable channels running in a Grid. What I need is for the developer to add a Volume Focus; so the only Tile that outputs volume is the one that is selected; while the other tiles mute the volume sound of their respective channels..
But there's a conflict with Tab Utilities (Version 1.6pre5 and Phoenix 1.6pre9), its 'mouse hover to preview a tab' doesn't work any longer.
When I disable Tile Tabs the preview shows up, when I re-enable Tile Tabs it doesn't. [FF26]
