Please make for mobile add-ons Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very nice! please make this as an add on for firefox mobile for android! I'm having a hugely difficult time finding a usable, no-nonsense text browser for mobile.

Hi,
Thanks for the review. You may be able to use the Textise bookmarklet on your Android device. The bookmarklet does pretty much the same thing as the FF add-on but takes the form of a simple javascript link. You can find it at http://www.textise.net/Bookmarklet.aspx. Let me know how it goes or if you need any help.

Doesn't Work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Have tried to install this add-on twice, but despite receiving successful install notifications, and the add-on appearing in my menu, right-clicking a screen produces no results, nor does attempting to move the add-on to my menu bar. So far a complete failure...

Sorry to hear you're having problems with the add-on.
When you right-click on a web page (and it's best to do this over some text, by the way, or a link), do you not see "Textise this PAGE" or something similar in the contextual menu? If you do, select it and you should be taken to a text-only page. If not, please let me know what you do see.
You should also have a Textise icon (the red X) in your toolbar. This will do the same job.

Does what it says it will do. And elegantly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does what it says it will do. And elegantly. Its FAST, EASY, and SIMPLE.

And for me, its a very handy tool.

I'm on metered usage. URL Copy/Paste into the home page works great, however add-on and bookmark solutions seem to require the page to be loaded first thereby negating any bandwidth savings.

Hi Dave - version 3.0 allows you to Textise links as well as pages, which should solve your problem.

It works! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very nice. Something I am looking for. I just hope the logo is not bright red and is made with transparent background because so it does not stand out and blends more with other logos when I create a toolbar for it.

Great addon! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Love this add-on. Really pleased to see the new feature for right-click on a link and "Text-Only View (Textise)".

Right click

Thanks for the great review. You're not the first person to ask for a "right-click a link" option so I guess I really ought to have a look at it!
As for speed, this is because Textise has a lot of work to do - creating clean text from complex pages is really not as straightforward as people sometimes think.

Nearly impossile to use because of network problem Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The conversion is done through www.textise.net rather than locally. www.textise.net seems to be very slow or be blocked where I live. I would love to see a clean page with only text, but it's hard for me to use without a proxy.

Site blocker?

Sorry to hear you're having problems using Textise. I'd be surprised if there were some sort of local site blocking going on, unless you live under a repressive regime! Textise is blocked by some company firewalls, I know, because it can be used as a way of avoiding internet restrictions.

Works for Me Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Occasionally doesn't work for some pages, but not a deal-breaker.

Many thanks for the positive review. I know that the add-on is used on a daily basis by many people but the overall rating's a bit low because of problems I had with FF 3, so your 5 stars are much apreciated!

This installed just fine with FF v.11.0.

Worked without issue.

I'm using this in FF4B7 and it is excellent and the developer is very open to suggestions for features. Great work!

Yeah this isn't working in 3.6.3. No right click menu option and it's not under the tools menu. FAIL.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).

All fixed now. The problem was caused by a change in FF 3 that affected some add-ons, including this one. I eventually re-wrote the add-on completely and it's been working perfectly since then. If you have any difficulties at all, or you're on a different browser (!), you can find a bookmarklet on the Textise site (http://textise.net/Bookmarklet.aspx) that does exactly the same thing.

Nice idea, but doesn't work with diacritical letters. They're all displayed with this mark in Firefox.

It works exactly as it should. I just wish it allowed me to set some profiles for the text. I wish it would allow me to automatically textise any site I go to by default until I approve it to load the page without being textised. I also wish it allowed me to have some profiles for rich text and line breaks so the words don't go from one end of the screen to the other. It makes for more head turning than necessary and I don't like black on white contrast with just plain text. Other than that, it works perfectly. Thanks!
