I'm giving it a three because past versions have always been spot on and I use it frequently. However, the color tag, which this version purportedly fixes, is still broke. No matter what color I click on in the color picker, the resulting code is 'span style="color:#000000"'. Other than that, a very cool toolbar indeed.
не вставляется цветовой код
Сам тег вставляется но конкретное значения цвета,отсутствует.
Если использовать расширенный набор цветов(выбор ил палитры виндовс) то значение кода цвета вставляется.
Looks great so far! Especially useful for wordpress posts where using the inbuilt WYSIWYG editor is very slow and inefficient
какая-то ошибка возникла сразу после установки, поэтому я это дополнение снес и нашел аналог - BBCode. Его и использую.
using text format toolbar, I've been able to save lot bandwidth and improved my internet speed!
whatever forum you're member of, just go to profile',s Control Panel > options > make the text editor to 'simple text editor' and also use noscript to block pages.
so next time when you want to post in some forum, use the bbcode mode of this text format toolbar, and you'll save lot bandwidth because you're not downloading that big sized text composer from the forum! = lot bandwidth saved
A fantastic tool. But it is possible to encode URLs with braces? Many BBcode-Site does not allow native (, ), [ and ] in URLs. Is it possible to encode this few charactes to the %28, %29, .... codes with the URL-Button?
This would be very usefull! TIA!
New version suitable for Firefox 3. See homepage if not updated here.
Please, make this add-on for Mac!
Version 0.1.4.7 doesn't work for me either, but it's not a problem, because version 0.1.4.6 still works perfectly, as someone mentioned below.
Best text formatting addon by far, I couldn't live without it, so please keep updating it. I beg you :P
The Version 0.1.4.6 is good :)
I'm french too, and i've the same bug of CollenCR :

I also have the same problem as mentioned by ColleenFR on August 7, 2008... Since that it has not yet been addressed, that it is unusable, and more over that it breaks things around, this add-on is a spat-off guyzmo, and it it scores zero - one star because there's no way to say -5.
Love it! Amazing toolbar that actually does what it says. Everywhere I go I can now format much quicker and more accurately. Also excellent and super fast support from the developer at the forum. 5 out of 5
I have the same problems with 0.1.4.7 as mentioned by ColleenFR on August 7, 2008 :
New Window command is not responding anymore. Also no new windows opened when e.g. opening mediaplayer from a link in a wbpage. I als have the XML error when I try to view Text Formating Options. When I disable it the 'new window' problems are gone.
Hello, sorry for my english, I'm french...
I downloaded the update 0.1.4.7 and now, I can't launch more than one firefox window at the same moment ; and my Web Developer Toolbar has disappeared.
When I deactivate the addon Text Formating Toolbar, my Web Developper Toolbar appears again and i can launch severals times firefox to have severals windows of it.
There's an XML error when I try to view Text Formating Options :
Emplacement : chrome://format-bar/content/options.xul

Thanks! this is a very useful tool for a forum poster... just like me
is there any way to correct the empty color palette bug???
Great addon, but:
If I will make the next version of Text Formatting Toolbar, I will incorporate the following features:
1. Toolbar will auto-show when the focus is in a multi-line Text Box.
2. The BBcode/HTML/Wiki selector will be smarter.
When I'm in a Wiki site, it automatically be in Wiki Mode.
When I'm in forums, BBCode Mode is set.
Otherwise, it's HTML Mode.
3. I can let the users configure for more templates:
"New Button" dialog consists of the following fields:
a. Button Name
b. Icon Image path
c. What mode this applies to
%T represents the currently-selected text.
So users can create their custom templates like:
Wiki Header 1 Template:
== %T ==
4. Text Size should allow Font Size in Points. In forums like http://sc2armory.com font sizes must be specified in points instead of Levels 1-7
5. FIX the Empty Color Palette Bug in Firefox 3.
It'd be best if I can have it inside the textarea (like BBComposer set out to be).
Nice add-on! It would be even better if it uses more true Wiki formatting. Examples:
''italic'' instead of the tag
== Header 1 ==
=== Header 3 ===
I'm looking for a way to enter «Guillemets», a button would be very useful for special caracters, like « or ».
Just waiting for AMO to approve the current release. Which would enable doing all the that. You can create your own buttons, and the size button can be turned into "heading" mode if you like.
It was said that it contained alignment tools (left, right, center, justified). Where are those tools?
They are in the Customize Toolbar Window. I could have reset all the buttons so the appeared, but I doubt any one would have liked me doing that.
Nice, easy to use, works in any selected editable text box.
This is probably one of the best extensions that Michael ever wrote. It is great for newbies (like me) who don't know the first thing about html or wiki code. You can easily switch between html, BBCode or Wiki code by clicking the dropdown button on the toolbar. It is perfect for formatting text in online forums and wikis. Click between multiple tabs in your browser, and then adjust the code depending on the type of site you're on.
The toolbar contains many common text formatting tools (bold, underline, italic, text size, text color, code tags, quote tags), alignment tools (left, right, center, justified), list tools (bulleted, ordered), link tools (email, image, url), and a few uncommon tools (subscript, superscript, strikethrough). In addition to the items on the bar itself, the extension comes with some user configurable options.
Michael's toolbar is highly recommended for my staff of volunteers at Add-ons Mirror (formerly The Extensions Mirror) and all the members of my forum. ANYONE who works on forums (phpBB, IPB, etc.) or wikis should have this extension. It makes formatting your posts faster and easier. Great job, Michael! Looking forward to the next release.

Nice clean toolbar. I would like it if the image toolbar button would pick up the current selected text as a suggest url so that I could write a URL, or paste it, then hit the button to stick tags around it as is common on many BBCode forums.
