  • Amazing! Just what I wanted. Deleted the previous Tab Session Manager which was hideous, difficult to use etc. It's quite amazing how a very simple interface with just a few features is so incredibly better when done right. Display window lets you see and edit the current tabs in the window and save the collection to a named group. How much sipler can yuo get. Now if I can only find a similar add-on for Chrome!
  • Taboo is now "Tabulous"
  • After a long drought, it appears that Taboo may have re-emerged as Tabulous. Since virtually everything appears the same, except perhaps the down arrow on the "open all tabulouses" button, which opens a preview screen, I have to assume anotherjesse may have abandoned Taboo or passed it over or joined forces with Chris Kemp (I hope). I also noticed that when Tabulous is installed, it looks for the Taboo data and copies it to it's Tabulous folder and it's all there working, like Taboo was never gone. It also appears to have the same + and T buttons. I am overjoyed.
  • It is a real shame that this addon has been abandoned by his authors. It's a brilliant addon and a lot better than Read it Later.
  • This once-useful addon has long since abandoned by it's author. Seems to me at this point, it should be delisted from this site, so as to not further disappoint folks.
  • TooManyTabs seems to have many of the features lacking in this otherwise interesting extension
  • Hey, I'm 70 yo an dont no crap but I thot these things were open sause an ennnybuddy hoo knew coud write in the program and fix it up?
  • My Business and me can't wait for the creators (anotherjesse, iantriesagain, Manish Singh, Ben Andrews) of this cool add-on to make it available for Firefox 8.0.
Any similar add-ons available for Firefox 8.0?
    Keep up the good work
  • When will it be available for Firefox 6.0.2?
  • Yes, "TooManyTabs - Saves Your Memory" is a good substitute for Taboo! Actually I find it even better, because it's simpler to erase a tab. By opening a saved tab, it's automatically erased. Press the little icon next to it, and the tab is saved again, and closed at the same time. Besides, one can switch instantly between several saved tabs sessions, and it's very simple to migrate one or several tabs to a different session.
  • Please update Taboo for Firefox 4.0 and possibly for 5.0! Addon is VERY useful and I'd like to use it again.
  • The alternative for me is Scrapbook
  • i'm going to miss taboo. :( i've been using "toomanytabs" as an acceptable alternative. it's not as visually appealing as taboo, but it seems to do the job. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toomanytabs-saves-your-memory/
  • I used to love Taboo. Since it is not compatible with FF4 I do not use Taboo anymore. Does anyone know any good alternatives?
  • Je n'installerai pas FF4 tant que taboo ne sera pas upgradé.
  • I've been using taboo for nearly two years now, I dunno what I'd do without it. In fact, on my new laptop I downgraded from Firefox 4 just so I can use it.
  • pleeease make this compatible with FF4!
  • As there has been no word from the developers regarding an update to this invaluable addon, I think we have to assume that it's not going to happen.

Although this is a great shame, it doesn't have to be the end of the road for Taboo.

The source code is available so it just needs another capable addon developer to pick up the baton and run with it.

Here's hoping that somebody will do so.
  • This is a real BIG problem of Firefox! Every now and then when a big update is available, some of the most important add-ons just don't work anymore! How can you trust a browser this way?!
  • So called Panorama (the new FF4 tab grouping feature) just sucks. It may be ok for the current session but never trust it in the long run. I lost huge collections of tabs 3 times and gave up.

So we still waiting for the good old Taboo to come back.
  • Hey, since no one else has mentioned this, I wanted to help out some of the people who are missing their taboos since updating to FF4. I stupidly hit update as soon as I saw the shiny FF4 download button and didn't think twice. Until I realized that my most beloved add-on, Taboo, had not been updated for FF4. And after pondering the fact that FF4 has a shiny new tab saving interface of it's own, I also wondered if the makers of Taboo would even bother to update. If they do, more power to them, but considering so many other extensions have already updated, the fact that they did not seems suspect, no?

The good news is your Taboos are all still there, FF4 simply can't access them because the extension is incompatible. To that end, what I did was re-install FF 3.6. Finding a link was NOT easy, nothing seems to be available on the Mozilla pages at this time. So you'll need to google or if you need a copy, I can send you one. I re-installed FF3.6, and Taboo was functional again. Then I went into the Taboo preferences and chose to export all my saved tabs (a ridiculous 3 digit number no less) as an html file which I saved to my desktop. I then re-installed FF4 and clicked on my saved Taboo html file which launched in a browser window of course. I have that file, which lists all the links of my old taboos, pinned to my FF4 browser (one of the new FF4 tab features) and am slowly reorganizing my tabs. Let's face it, some of those tabs we have are old, irrelevant, etc. So I'm organizing them and the ones that I want for quick reference will live in the new sexy FF4 tab organizer. The others which I need to keep but want organized in a different way because I need a more visual presentation of them are going into my "zoo". In case you're wondering, that would be my zoo at zootool.com which is quite possibly the greatest, sexiest bookmarking/sharing interface I have ever used. It's like Del.icio.us and Taboo got together and had this awesome german baby that organizes all my thoughts and inspirations. If only the rest of my life were this cool!

Anyhow, you don't have to use both options, but the saving your taboos as an html file to transfer into your new FF4 browser is an easy one if you want to take advantage of the awesomeness of FF4 and can't wait for the Taboo update. To the Taboo creators; I understand if you decide not to update, but thank you for your innovative extension. It raised the bar for useful extensions and really heightened my organizational skills. Job well done, I look forward to seeing what else you come up with ;)
  • Love this addon. I'm waiting to upgrade for a bit in the hopes this will get updated for FF4.
  • Thanks for the great Add-on. I use it extensively. Still waiting for the update for FF4.. Any ideas when that may be coming?? I have a lot of pages bookmarked w\Taboo & am unable to access them as far as I know. Really would like to get using Taboo again. Have dug & can't find any info on when we may or if we may see the update. For now I just check for updated add-on's daily in hopes 1 day it may appear. Thanks again for the great program, Caldy.
