Great extension.

- It allows moving among tabs only with the mouse, but unlike Tab Wheel Scroll with a key combination so you probably are not going to switch accidentally.
- It lacks a small options menu unlike other extensions like roTab or Tab Wheel Scroll.
- Needs to be updated for new FF versions (you can change maxversion in install.rdf to make it work with later verions, I'm using it on FF 10.0a1 nightly at this moment).
- Only works with the mouse pointer out of the tab bar, so it also keeps the normal scroll whell behavior on hoovering
- And it's only 2KB

There's also the reversed one: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabnavit-reversed/

check All-in-One Gestures Extension. in advanced options #2 you can enable wheel scrolling while right button pressed to change tabs (anywhere on screen)

randlieb: Re: your suggestion to use TabWheelScroll: No, that is completely different. It does not allow you to scroll tabs unless your pointer is in the tab row. This add-on allows you to hold down CTRL key anywhere in the window and scroll tabs. TWS is next to useless. This add-on needs to be updated! Unfortunately the author seems to be AWOL. It's a shame, because it's the last add-on to keep me on 3.5 rather than upgrading to 3.6.

This user has a previous review of this add-on.

3.6+ Please! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'll second and third that request. Great extension, would love to see it updated for 3.6+!

Thanks a ton for your efforts!

Plz upgrade for 3.6 plus Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi

I really enjoyed using this tool. Scrolling through tabs is infinitely a more intuitive way to navigate tabs than using the ALT TAB, Shift TAB nonsense. Unfortunately, TabNavit is not compatible with the latest versions of firefox. Please Pleeeaaaaassseeeee upgrade it.

Thanks

A very nice extension when you don't need another "Mouse gesture" feature ! ;)

But since Fx 3.5 it seems there is a bug with animated content like "marquee" elements.

The cursor begins to blink after going on this kind of site and using the extension (tested in safe mode to identify it).

The problem also occurs with other "click gesture" extensions :

Hi
Here you have reversed version of TabNavIt:
(scrolls tabs left on wheel up, and to the right with wheel down)

change direction Rated 5 out of 5 stars

To all those wanting to change direction, here is how.

Find folder where the add-on is installed. For me this is

c:\Documents and Settings\usernamel\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\6lzq9ols.default\extensions\{94A287ED-4FCC-26BB-2862-41D2AAC99223}\chrome\

In there you will find tabnavit.jar file. Then

1. copy the file to separate location
2. change its name to tabnavit.jar.zip
3. open the zip archive
4. find tabnavit.js there
5. open the file in text editor such as notepad
6. towards the end of file you'll see 'advanceSelectedTab(1,true)' twice (and with -1 twice as well)
7. change sign of 1's
8. save the file (still in the archive)
9. rename the archive back to tabnavit.jar
10. copy it to the original location

You are done

Its still a beta, enough said..
Nah, not realy, I found a bug, foxit reader pdf tab is a dead end when trying to scrolchange tab, and the ability to change activationbutton would be nice..
Hope that there will be a new version on the way, allmost a year since last update !

Awesome except for that direction complaint. It's a developer thing, they just don't get usability sometimes. There is another add-on extension called "Tab Wheel Scroll" https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6501 that does the same thing but is limited to scrolling within the tab bar area (not so bad) and it defaults to down going left too!! However it has a UI to be able to select your preference like this one really should too.

I'm in the process of attempting to modify the js code in this one and then update the xpi file. The only problem since I'm not a developer or programmer, is that the .jar file will not update after I modify it within the extracted xpi file (unlike rdf files which update easily . It simply reverts to the original code and date. The code appears simple enough to modify and if I can update the jar file and xpi file then I can at least install and test it to see if I can get this add-on to change the default behavior to the direction most of us seem to prefer. Don't hold your breath though.!

It's a great idea., but unfortunately I couldn't get used to the scrolling direction. Make an option to switch directions so that down=right and up=left and this is a perfect add-on.

Good idea… but not so easy to use… I think to Opera for example…

Using Mac OS 10.5 (aka Leopard)…

This is definitely a cutie) A good replacement for mouse gestures.

But!.. There is just one thing that keeps annoying me: the scroll direction... One is often used to down-right and up-left tab scroll, so... Could you pleaaaase add the option to invert scroll direction? It would be a breakthrough for many of those like me)

And just another idea... What about closing the tab from anywhere from the window with, say, rightclick-doublemiddleclick? Thanks in advance!

great :) Rated 4 out of 5 stars

only awkward for those with less than 2 fingers i feel. this is a great wee add-on, although i do wish i could change the direction of scrolling - my tabs are vertical so it feels like scrolling up goes down and vice versa.
