J'apprécie beaucoup la fonctionnalité,
Je l'utilise avec Tab Group Bar qui a mon avis le complète bien.
Just a slight problem, though. I'm using Pale Moon (Firefox v24 ESR fork) with the Panorama add-on (Panorama is removed from Pale Moon by default), and everything works except for "Show Tabs Menu" and "Use active group name in tabs menu", as disabling these don't have any effect.
I want to make the "Tab Groups (149/8)" menu to be the only one to appear in the menu bar, removing the "Main (active group name)" menu, but disabling the second option doesn't remove the active group name from the menu item, and disabling the first doesn't make the "active group" menu item to disappear as I'd like it to.
Would be the most important add-on for FF if only FF stays stabile and doesn't mess everything in every update. After every update I got to start my work from scratches.
There should be some kind of automatic regular backup in TGM to prepare for updates of FF.
I have used FF as a tool, not a toy but after ver 17 it has been impossible.
I don't lose any tabgroups data after upgrading firefox. If you want to backup your tabs you can install session manager addon.
I like this addon on preview versions? but now it work with any strange...
I can't make button with menu which show the names of groups in first column.
Please, update this addon!
With always 300+ tabs open, this is one of the most important add-ons for me!
The only thing missing is a way to easily export the groups when I move to another distro or OS.
I hope that feature will be added sometime.
You can just copy sessionstore.js in your profile directory to restore the tabs.
A vital extension if you use more than two tab groups! Very nice.
I would like to be able to choose where on the menu bar the menu is put, though - it would be better as a button (like Adblock plus)
And the second little menu to the right just looks like empty space, completely invisible and is useless. I've clicked on it by mistake several times.
The best extension for Firefox Panorama.
works with FF 16.0.2 and to the latest nightly (now 24). this what i tested.
Having several hundred tabs open on my current session, this invaluable extension makes Firefox Panorama feature really useful.
I'm using version 0.9.1 on FF 21.0 with no real problems, just a few glitches with the toolbar button. Best to use it from the menus, if you dig keeping your menu bar visible, which I do just for this baby.
Panorama is great but has many shortcommings; this extension solves many of them. It's cleary the best in its class. I can't thank the developer enough.
I love this extension ridiculously, but its incompatible with the newest version of Firefox. Please update!
This is exactly what I needed to quickly switch between tab groups. There's some minor issues, but the extra menus and options are more than I was expecting.
The most glaring issue is if I have the options to replace the panaroma button AND disable the drop down menu arrow, the menu doesn't disappear when I select a tab. It does disappear when I have the drop down arrow enabled.
The functionality that this extension provides would really enhance firefox, but unfortunately it stops working after the second reboot of firefox. This happened with a similar extension I found that had similar functionality, but I am not sure whether this is a coincidence, or a common obstacle for extension devs when dealing with tab groups.
Everything works as expected initially, although I did see some "anonymous" groups. To resolve this, I just moved the tabs to groups that were properly named. After I restarted firefox twice, the new tab group icon with the dropdown menu turned back to the standard one without the menu, and then there was no way to access it.
Excellent work so far, but a pity that it doesn't work.
It's a known bug, but in my case it's easily fixed by disabling this addon and then enabling it again. Since this is a restartless addon, the effect can be seen immediately.
Very nice add-on, but unfortunately it doesn't work any more with the actual FF versions. It seems that the author stopped updating this add-on. Very sad. :(
Followup: It seems I can't answer directly to the developers response. So I'm doing it here:
Yes, it works a little bit with FF 19. But there's a big issue: Suddenly TabGroup Menu "forgets" names of the tab groups. It renames it to "(Anonymous: xyz)", or some tab groups are simply disappearing. This appears very often.
I'm using FF 19 and it still works.
The whole concept of tab grouping really is more trouble than it is worth. I gave this one a try and although it was one of the better group mangers it also created a number of issues too.
Personally I prefer a toolbar button instead of a dropdown menu- but that is a personal choice. However, the menu also can't be toggled so it pushed my already crowded menubar into squeezing my search area.
The main issue I had was it was creating numbered tab groups that don't exist. Now I was able to go in there and fix things after some tinkering but for the non-technical masses that is too much to ask.
The bottom line is tab grouping isn't worth it until someone does a complete overhaul and makes it granny-proof.
Yet another good addon falls in the hands of Firefox vs Chrome "versioning" *#$% race. As of 17.01, it doesn't work yet doesn't filter as incompatible with 17.01 either. I'm not going to ask for update, not gonna patch xpi, not gonna disable version check. Probably as of Firefox v30.0, ridiculous version yet, where all addon developers will abandon Firefox, I will have to too despite I've been using it since v0.9, exile Firefox for a better browser...
Thanks for author of this good addon...
Really nice app, especially when you have 80 tabs in 5/6 groups. Only recommendation - could you provide option to remove the menus. I am perfectly fine with the option "add menu to panorama button" option. Thanks a lot.
I'm having the same problems as klonos below
Does exactly what I need. This should be standard in Firefox.
Did not find problems in normal use. But I did not test everything that might be possible.
If I could assign shortcut keys so that I can jump directly to a certain group this would be great.
The keys ctrl + ` in Firefox itself is very poor since you just can go from one group to the next or with shift plus the keys above back again.
Very useful addon. A few glitches though:
- No matter what I choose in the addon options, I cannot remove the extra menu (intention is to only add a drop-down to the panorama button).
Of course, if I could disable it, I wouldn't care for the rest of the glitches (and I wouldn't have noticed them in the first place either), but here it goes...
- Selecting the option to *only* show group count shows an empty bracket next to the button name. Like so: "Tab Groups ()"
- Selecting to show *only* the tabs count shows an unnecessary forthslash in the next to the count. Like so: "Tab Groups (15/)". This might be required for when showing both tab count and group count, but not when there's only one of them shown.
- When starting up firefox the menu count on the new menu shows empty until I click on the panorama button drop-down. Shouldn't it be populated with the count(s)?
Whenever I use this product to switch to a different tab group, the compact menu loses its default menu items.
Useful add on. It would be nice if i could add tab groups menu to the mouse menu. That way i could right click with mouse and go to any page i like. I'm using menu editor add on, but i can't achieve that.
A very useful add-on.
Just noticed a minor bug recently. I am using Session Manager 0.7.9 together with this add-on. I have these two options (among a few others) enabled:
- Add menu to panorama button
- Replace panorama button
With the Session Manager add-on enabled, I noticed just recently that the TabGroups Menu add-on does not start up (i.e. no drop-down button showing-up next to the panorama button) when I launch Firefox (was using 12, now 13). I had to disable and re-enable the TabGroups Menu add-on to get it working.
If I disable the Session Manager add-on, the TabGroups Menu add-on works as expected.
Further testing show that when I have the following settings enabled in the Session Manager, it interferes with the TabGroups Menu add-on:
- Startup & Shutdown section
- Prompt for a session
- Pre-select previous session
It looks like whenever the Session Manager dialog box is displayed at the beginning, prompting to select a session, the TabGroups Menu stopped working until a disable/re-enable of the add-on is performed. If I choose use the "Select Session" option and set to auto-load a session, i.e. no dialog box appeared, the TabGroups Menu add-on started without any issue.
version 0.9.1 works just fine under Firefox 15, (now Aurora) but in
FX 16 due to the Australis theme (see bug 732583 in bmo) the Menu entries as well as the functionality on the TabGroup Button is missing. A update would be nice.
(I see no Forum or Support for this add-on, so it seems we have to communicate via this Review medium!)
2. You can install this version of nightly tester tools to reenable showing the group name to the title from this page
OK, I'm not a programmer/techie/developer, so I expect this has an obvious answer to someone versed in these things. I've installed the 'Nightly Tester' but how do I now install the version of TabGroups that shows the group in the title please?
EDIT: Hmm - it appears that my original review has now disapeared ;-(

The nightly tester addon enables you to add the active group name to the title, so you do not need tabgroups menu to do it. Check the nightly tester addon options.
For support please use the github issue tracker
THIS is what they should have done from the start. Nice and simple.
On thing I'd like to know: The panorama button menu and the menu bar menu seem to work differently. The panorama button one has additional markups to indicate active tabgroup and inactive tabs. Is this not possible in the menu bar?
What I'd like to have, would be an option to give names to tab groups created by moving a tab to a new tab group right away, since that is the way I create most of my tab groups and unnamed tab groubs are terrible to handle.
Maybe one could also add an option to replace the tab group entry in the tab dropdown menu with your group menu as well, to save additional space.
