Meet the Tabbrowser Preferences Developer

Why was Tabbrowser Preferences created?

I adapted this this add-on all the way back in 2004, from an earlier add-on of the same name for the Phoenix browser authored by Chris Cook, to expose many of the hidden preferences that Firefox uses to manipulate the manner in which the tabbed browser component behaves. Development continued up until 2006, when I abruptly stopped for various reasons, mainly to do with the increasing amount of time that the development was consuming. In 2011, I updated to Firefox 4.0 Beta and noticed that the preferences were still hidden, so I dusted off the code, cleaned it up, rebuilt the extension, and put it back up on this site.

What's next for Tabbrowser Preferences

As new and interesting tab-related features are added to Firefox 4.0, I will be digging through the code to see if any new and interesting tab-related preferences are added but not exposed in the UI. If they look interesting, I will add them to TBP.
