BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN IT DOESN'T WORK...

please understand that the dev has allegedly passed away, though this is not confirmed - i do know he is not responding to email

the modded version by the fella in china works with FF release version 23.* - you can find the link here:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1702465&start=2490

direct link: http://sta.sh/0voqv5zgrq2

the only problem i'm personally aware of is a possible issue with restoring closed tabs on occasion

this extension is rather popular and the only one of its kind that offers the features it does - hopefully someone will take over this project

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.1).

ABANDONED - looking for a dev Rated 4 out of 5 stars

it appears this extension has been abandoned as ithinc has not updated any of his extensions since 2011

it is rumored he may have passed on and emails to him are not being returned - i think we would all thank him for his work as Tab Utilities is, in my opinion, the best tab customization extension by far

members of the mozilla forum community, 'blackwind' in particular, have been very gracious by fixing bugs and offering code and download locations for their patched versions, which can be found here (start reading at page 163):

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1702465

the patched version as of 14-July-2013 seems to work very well with Firefox 22

hopefully another developer will come along and take this excellent project under their wing as 'blackwind' apparently cannot do it alone

until then, thanks 'blackwind' for your work!!!

potential privacy/security issue Rated 2 out of 5 stars

i recently learned by accident that this ext. has a "paste and go" feature that allows pasting to the browser content area (a non-input control). this can be a security/privacy concern if you happen to paste, for example, a URI such as http://username:password@example.com which then can get sent straight to google as a "i'm feeling lucky" search which is saved by google and becomes publicly available. this "feature" cannot be disabled from the options UI as far as i can tell, but can be disabled by setting "extensions.tabutils.shortcut.key_pasteAndGo" and possibly "extensions.tabutils.shortcut.key_pasteAndSearch" to "false". in my opinion this feature should be scrapped as FF already has this built-in and implemented in a better, more secure way so that it only works in the address and search input controls. this is a disaster waiting to happen

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.1-signed).

A URI such as http://username:password@example.com won't be sent to google as a "i'm feeling lucky" search.

fine little utility Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Loving this extension - does everything i want it to do without allot of overhead. The developer is responsive to bug reports and has been very active in TU's development. While the 1.0 build is still in the RC stage, i'm seeing fresh builds a couple times a week on average. 5-star potential for sure once the 1.0 release hits!

sir!
nice, light weight alternative to TMP. hopefully the footprint remains small.
