Found a little bug on Version 1.8.8:

"Default location for tab count label in Firefox 4 and up is now at the right end of the tab bar. It can be repositioned if desired".

I can move it, but it changes to its default position (the right end of the tab bar) after a restart.

Please, fix this.
Thanks!

simple and useful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

i wanna this addon can show the total tabs count in all firefox windows(the %n can only show the number in a single window), how to set it?

Great, simple add-on. Works exactly as advertised, with some nifty customization features; I use it with the pattern "%c/%n".

To the developer, could this text double as the button that shows a pulldown of all your tabs? I'm a stickler for eking every last pixel out of my layout, and the combination makes sense to me.

please put new feature called example 5 of 46 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Could you please put a feature that tells us which number of current tab are we are?
for example i expect Tab Counter tells me 5 of 45 Tabs whenever i'm on Tab number 5 or 11 of 34 whenever the current tab is number 11 from all 34 opened Tabs.

please answer here or update Tab Counter with this feature as soon as possible.
Thank you.

That's already available

If you go into the options and check the "use advanced text formatting" check box, you can then use the advanced formatting which allows reporting the current tab, total number of tabs, number of previous tabs and number of next tabs. Hover over the text box for a tooltip explaining the formatting.

Very simple, unobtrusive, and it even works with other tab organizing extensions. Thank you!

Nifty little tool. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does what is says and a bit more. It's a placeable element and its look is even a bit customizable. Fonts, font color (sweet if it's hard to read), font size (everything in css format) and even a bit text can be added.
Displayable are the number of all and active tabs and number of tabs before and after the current selected tab.

My only wish would be, that it would auto hide, if a certain number of tabs isn't reached, but you can't have everything.

Just love it. Works first time and does what it says on the tin.

Stick the words Tabs Open after the numerical and Hey Presto!

This would be fine if we had the option to move the count number to the tab bar or location bar.

If you hide the menu bar with an add-on, this won't work.

This is a very nice extension for someone like me, who tends to mindlessly open tabs. Thank you for making it!

However, just one suggestion: In the advanced text formatting option, can you add a string that shows the total amount of tabs in the current window, and a string that shows the 'global' amount of tabs (in all open windows)? Like in the TabCount extension. Thank you.

Great ! 10/10 ~almost~

( but for the documentation. )

A few minor points & wish-list:

1) I like the way you get to options by
RtClik on the tab count itself,
Like Michael_Corvin/ dypsis, I recommend

Options>Format_string: %c/%n

which gives me, for example: 20/42
(I'm in the 20th tab of a total of 42.)

2) I click on th tab count, get options. fine.
You say "click on labels for CSS info".
But if you do, it takes you off to CSS
documentation. Rather alarming, and too techie
for the average joe. And haven't the time.
Cascading Style Sheets. Fascinating. Later.

Much better to give some nice examples in a
Help text.

(Try to remember, not everyone is as
intelligent as you! Or me, even.)

3) ...and if you click on the label 'Format_String'
it very strange. Hovering over this label works,
but that isn't what you say, is it?

3) PLEASE sort out the tags in the add-ons file.
When I search for 'Tab Counter', I only get
TabCounter by filipc, which does not work. Not for me, anyway (ff 3.5 in vista2). Time was te.

So people have to dig further to find it, &
sadly may never get here.

4) When I Tools>Extensions, select Tab Counter &
RtClk, the 'Home page' is greyed out.
No help there, then.

5) PLEASE, please, put some clear examples of format
strings in some easily found Help text.
Put a link in the Options panel, maybe.

6) I would really like to have some indication on the tab itself, of the number of pages that have
been overlaid.

Countless times, I have deleted a tab, only to
realize later that the page I wanted was overlaid
beneath it. Countless times.

The standard feature of bringing up a selectable
list when you Rt-click on the back-arrow is
rather nice, but has to be done on a by-page
basis, and is easily missed.

(is %n the number of tabs, or the number of
actual pages, some hidden?
Something useful to know.)

Thanks to all those who reviewed before, without whom I would probably not have seen all the excellent features on this neat add-on.

This extension is definitely NOT COMPATIBLE with 3.7a1 and trying to access its OPTIONS renders the Add-Ons window unclickable AND unclosable.

Besides that, this extension here=> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6391 is TONS BETTER! (and everything works in 3.7a1 too!)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8.2).

It works fine with 3.7a1

I've tested the extension with 3.7a1 and it works fine. The extension you linked to breaks my extension when it's installed (it overwrites my extension's chrome overlay) so that's most likely why you are having problems.

Well written add-on, but could use improvement Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I originally thought that this add-on wasn't working, because I didn't see the tab count to the left of the address bar as shown in the first image. Then I found the counter in the upper right, and I thought that this was just another add-on that only counted tabs in the current window. Finally, I opened the Options dialog box and read about the %c and %n options and the customizable CSS. Finding these options makes it so much more than just another tab counting add-on. My suggestions for improvement would be:
1) Update the Long Description and Images for the add-on to reflect the current default behaviors.
2) Include the customization information in the Long Description or somewhere else.
3) Add an option to display total number of tabs across all windows.
4) Add an option to display total number of windows.
5) Add an option to display the current window.
I'm glad I looked closer at this add-on, or I would have just uninstalled it. Keep up the good work!
