I LOVE this addon. But It doesn't seem to be working on Google Reader for me. I'm using Firefox 6.0.2 (Portable from PortableApps.com). It works for Facebook and GMail. Haven't tested anything else yet.Also, if you could make it work for Microsoft Outlook Web Access I would be much obliged, so much so that I would donate.
I so like this plugin.
but I don't know how to change text size, it too small for me.
The ability to change the color would be kind of nice. Still great little addon. thanks
will the new ver support google+?
I haven't got a Google+ account yet, so I've no idea what needs to be done, but I'm sure it won't be long before I get one. Just can't avoid these things, unfortunately.
Good job on fixing the inconsistency issue! One small thing I noticed in v1.6: if you rearrange a tab with a badge by dragging it to a new location, the badge disappears.
I think that's a side-effect of how tab rearrangement happens, I'll look into it.
One of the best firefox addons. I think it needs to be a "whitelist only" plugin. But it's almost perfect right now too. Very useful, lightweight and I think a feature like this should be integrated into firefox. A huge thank you to the developer.
So awesome! I've gotten spoiled since enabling the "Unread message icon" Lab in GMail, and been wishing Facebook and other sites offered the same handy functionality. Now, thanks to Tab Badge, I have it everywhere.
Personally, I haven't encountered any issues with it yet. And blacklisting gmail.com (because, like I said, I use their Lab) worked just fine. (However, I've only used it for a few days.)
Great addon! I hope eventually it will work with plurk.com (title syntax is for example "2 unread - custom text - username on Plurk", but for some reason it's not catching that 'unread').
Nope, it's not catching the lack of brackets.
Best add on ever for Firefox 4. Helps me to notify any new emails i get on Gmail. This makes the "Pin as app tab" a lot more usefull :)
Very useful, but incompatible with Tab Utilities 1.0.2. Tab Utilities 1.0.2 can only work with Tab Badge when under default status...I cannot setup my preference of Tab Utilities in order to keep Tab Badge working :(
It works, but only if the title has (number) in it. For example if you were viewing a website on a movie made in 2010, the title would be Movie Title (2010), and the badge would show 2010.
This app does what it says it will. I've used it with Facebook, Twitter, and Gmail and it works great. My only complaint is that it makes the app tabs almost triple in size. I would greatly appreciate an option to overlay the badge on top of the icon and make it smaller. As it stands right now, the badge itself is bigger than the favicon and uses more margin padding than the favicon.
Thanks for this addon.
I had a minor problem with Tab Badge working to show my Gmail unread count badge on pinned as App tab and I contacted Geoff the Developer. He got back to me super fast with a response and a fast, working, update for Tab Badge to v1.3. It still needs to be reviewed and approved for posting on the AMO site by Mozzila but here is the link the developer gave me for Tab Badge v1.3.
It's simply an awesome Add-on, really saving spaces and making my firefox4 looks slimmer. But some how it has some problem to work with Tab Utilities :-(
Works amazingly well, however I thought the default appearance was a little unattractive, so I modified it slightly. I changed lines 19-20 of bootstrap.js to:
var forecolor = 'rgb(226,226,226)';
var backcolor = 'rgb(102,102,102)';
and changed line 226 to:
tabBadge.setAttribute ('style', 'background-color: ' + backcolor + '; color: ' + forecolor + '; padding: 0 5px 0 4px; border-radius: 8px; font-size:0.8em; margin: 0 2px 0 6px !important; -moz-box-shadow:inset 0 0 2px #222;');
Looks much better now; thanks for a wonderful addon!
A brilliant idea, it lets me utilize app tabs for things like GMail, Google Reader and Twitter etc, and means I can cut down on unnecessary addons like Google Reader Watcher, Echofon and the like. I especially like how the author has made it pick up any site who's title has numbers in brackets, rather than building support for each site on a case-by-case basis. Very elegant!
How could it be perfect? Make the icon smaller and have it overlap the existing favicon so it doesn't make app tabs grow. Oh, and a simple way to remove blacklisted sites!
the addon alerts for new messages when there are numbers in braces, even if its irrelevant for some sites...
Yes it does. You can also blacklist it from any website by right-clicking on it.
Works great for Facebook and Twitter. Right-clicking a badge to blacklist doesn't seem to work on the FxChrome theme that I am using. I had to switch to the default theme to blacklist a few domains.
First of all I want to thank you for the great extension - it makes the app tabs useful for once. However it doesn't seem to work if you have Tab Mix Plus (another extension), which allows the locking/protecting of tabs. It needs to be disabled for me to see the badges.... so this extension seems to have trouble working with other extensions (the others work fine together).
This deserves a 5/5 star rating if it were not for this issue.
I know! Tab Mix Plus always seems to conflict with my add-ons :-( I'm working on it.
how can i restore badges that I have accidentally blacklisted?
For now the only way is to edit the extensions.tabbadge.blacklist setting in about:config. Sorry I haven't gotten around to making an easier way yet.
It doesn't appear to work with Firefox 4.0b11 under Linux, at least not with Twitter. I've reported this apparent incompatibility along with a list of installed add-ons via the Add-on Compatibility Reporter.
(I gave 3 stars as it appears to work for others, and I couldn't bring myself to give 1 star for incompatibility with beta software under a minority platform)
This is more than likely a conflict with another add-on. I know at least one popular add-on it doesn't play nicely with. Hoping to get that fixed soonish.
Just the addon I've been looking for! Could do with more customisation though, like modifying the appearance of the badge so it doesn't appear so bulky.
works like a charme! the reason why i gave only 4 stars is that i would love to see some settings.
Like: ignore notification higher than a certain number, so on imdb i dont have to wonder about "2011" notifications :)
Right click on the badge and blacklist imdb.com. :-)
Love the addon. Works great, incompatible with Tab Utilities 1.0 right now.
