Excellent addon! It would be awesome if menus could stay open also with the addons 'History Button' and 'Undo Close Tab Replacement'.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.10.1-signed).

Stay-Open Menu 2.0b2 supports the 'History Button' add-on. Currently available at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stay-open-menu/versions/ or wait for the final 2.0 release.
Support for 'Undo Close Tab Replacement' may be considered for some future release.

Issue with Hide BookmarksBar Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Have an issue with the BookmarksBar addon. When middle-button clicking on a link in the bookmarks bar, the bar still diseappear.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.10.1-signed).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

Only issue I see is that if "Hide Bookmarks Toolbar when a page is opened" is active, the toolbar will indeed hide as requested. If the toolbar becomes hidden, it's popups will too. If you use "Toggle the toolbar with the mouse" instead, it waits for the popups to close before hiding. I don't think Stay-Open Menu should attempt to prevent another extension's option from doing what it says it will. If you think that extension's option should behave differently, contact its author.

I rollback any fx update if this extension won't work (excl, compatibility check). It
implements missing "core" functionality. Do I need to say more? :)

This is such an excellent add on. It's exactly what I've been looking for.

Saves a lot of time when opening multiple pages from feeds, bookmarks etc. Very useful plugin, especially if you use a laptop and touchpad.

I'm back using this now, excellent Addon, thanks to the author.

I stopped using it as it never really allowed the menu to errr... stay open as one would expect in Windows. Now though dragging/dropping and moving bookmarks is almost perfect. Also the option to reopen menus after changing properties is a great idea! Wow, would never of thought of that.

Thank you again for your hard work! :-)

Glad you got things working the way you want, but nothing in Stay-Open Menu should change the default Firefox drag & drop behavior. The reopen option was inspired by another user's request.

Sometimes when you run into a problem like this, you come up with a lot of workarounds or just put up with it. This can go on for (years) before you realize someone else might have the same problem and even a solution. Doh! Thanks for all your work on this.

in History/Recently closed Tabs, menu not close after after move mouse.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.9.1-signed).

I am only able to reproduce this in the case where there is only one 'recently closed tab' in that list. In that case the submenu containing that item disappears when you middle-click the item, but the other menu levels don't auto-close. A simple workaround in this case, is to run the mouse pointer over one of the still-open menus and then back off the menu (mouseover, mouseout). Alternatively you can just click outside the menu. I'll add this to my bug list, but it really shouldn't be a frequent issue. If anyone is seeing this issue more often than just that very limited case, please contact me (via http://www.shadetreeapiary.com/extension/Forms/contactform.htm or http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=633732 ) with specific steps to reproduce. Thanks.

1.5.9 doesn't work for me with ColorfulTabs either. I have the latest ColorfulTabs version, 4.8.1.6.1. I disabled ColorfulTabs and Stay-Open Menu works fine. I'll trade pretty tabs for the beautiful function of this add-on any day.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.9.1-signed).

I cannot reproduce this issue in a clean profile with only Stay-Open Menu 1.5.9 and ColorfulTabs 4.8.1.6.1 installed. (I did see it with ColorfulTabs 4.8.1.2) Possibly some third extension is also involved in the conflict? If you'd like help sorting out the cause, feel free to contact me via http://www.shadetreeapiary.com/extension/Forms/contactform.htm or post to http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=633732

Please try updating to ColorfulTabs 4.8.1.5. The incompatibility appears fixed for me with the updated version of ColorfulTabs.

As a basic example: Open the Bookmarks Menu (click the word 'Bookmarks' on the menu bar) then middle-click (click with the middle-mouse-button) on a bookmarked item (Item opens in a new tab, without closing the menu). You can Ctrl-click -- hold down 'Ctrl' key while clicking primary (usually 'left') mouse button -- as an alternative to middle-clicking (unless you've not turned that Option off). Rather extensive usage information is available on the website (http://www.shadetreeapiary.com/extension/). I'm not sure why , but the link is still broken

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.6).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

The link appears to work fine when I test it just after uploading; the file seems to get corrupted sometime later. I am trying to get this resolved. Meanwhile, you can find it linked from: http://www.shadetreeapiary.com/extension/Prerelease/index.htm Thanks for your patience; sorry for all the trouble.

It does what any professionally developed browser should have in the first place.. being able to [mmb] entries on dropmenu bookmark lists and have them opened in separate tabs, without the choir of having re-open the same menu.

Shame its not working on 4.0bpre10

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.6).

re: 4.0b10(pre)

Stay-Open Menu 1.5.8rc (currently available as a prerelease version on the "all versions" page) contains the required update for compatibility with recent 4.0b10pre and the just released b10 Firefox versions. I'll upload the final version in a few days unless some bug is reported.
Glad you like it, thanks.

crucial for finding finding bookmarks in the "awesome bar" Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This should be implemented in FF!!! This is crucial for finding finding bookmarks in the "awesome bar" and opening the ones I like with via middle click!!!!

Interestingly enough, the only other browser that has similar functionality to this add-on is Internet Explorer 7/8 with its Favorites menu behavior. It's very similar. But this add-on has the best behavior for a bookmarks menu that I've seen yet. It combines ease-of-access with permanence to just the right degree.

Really useful. I don't understand why this add-on is so big.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.6).

Glad you like it. Things that add to its size: implementing its various options, fixing issues that occur as a side-effect of leaving the menu open, supporting both Firefox 3 and Firefox 4, translations by Babelzilla, the per-file MPL text. The code also includes a lot of comments (documentation) facilitating my ability to update it. It *is* open source; feel free to see for yourself which features take up the most code. It could be made somewhat smaller, but approx. 22kb (Firefox 4 no longer uncompresses them on disk) is not really that big, and taking time to find ways to reduce its size is not a high priority.

Why is this not standard behavior for *all* apps with nested menus that work this way? Those impossible menus are part of the reason I stubbornly stuck with DOS for *years* after everyone else had moved on to the annoying GUIs...and then moved to Linux later on. Really, I wish I had something like this for my entire operating system. I'd need to memorize a lot fewer terminal commands, if I had.
