Doesn't Work Firefox 27 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Nothing happens. Also, I don't find anything under ~Library to modify or change that could fix it. Please update or at least post instructions as to how to make it work. Would be a great app.

UHG! error msg Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Well it works but sadly i get a netscape java error that is annoying. doesn't stop it working but it pops up sporadically unless i disable it. I tired finding speakingfox.js but it's MIA the closest I could find is speakingfox@h5i.biz.xpi but it won't let me edit it.

Fix for FireFox 17+ Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Those who want to fix this Add-on, find it under ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/YOURPROFILE/extensions and under chrome/content, open speakingfox.js and comment out line 49: netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalXPConnect");This will fix the issue and SpeakingFox works again ;)

I can't thank you enough for this add-on, hihayash. It not only works like a charm but, the voice is smooth (unlike Safari's), pleasant, and clear. I'm very grateful.

Works well, but there is a problem. The more one uses it within a browsing session, the less and less text you can select until you can only select a single sentence and have it work. Somehow it's not letting go of it's memory after it stops speaking. If you restart the browser I think it starts working again.

Would you integrate the function"Look up in dictionary" and "Start speaking text" together? That would be more useful to a lot of users like me.

DictionaryFox

Hi aquaibm! How about installing another one of my add-on, DictionaryFox too? That is what I use when I want to look up dictionary.
Also, if you want "Summarize" in your context menu too, there is SummaryFox.

Can it be made to speak Japanese? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

作者 san, thanks for the add-on. I can only get it to speak English. Does it also speak Japanese text (ie. kanji). If you how do I make it do that. I would love that functionality. I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard, hoping that would make the difference, but it did not.

Japanese voice

Hi Chris, SpeakingFox is just using Mac's Speech Manager. So adding Japanese voice to your Mac would do that. I have not tried, but this company sells Japanese voice. http://www.createsystem.co.jp/dtalkerMacOSX.html

Fantastic! I've been waiting for Firefox to support speech for years. This plug-in might currently be marked as 'experimental' but it works great and is a great addition to Firefox. Thank-you to Hihayasha, the developer.

key commands? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Cool simple program. Are there hotkeys to enable or disable speech?
Can some of the VoiceOver key commands be used by it?
http://www.icanworkthisthing.com/docs/mac_with_voiceover/voiceoverkeys.shtml
For example to stop, speed up or slow down speech using a two finger tap, up or down arrows or...?
But thank you anyway.
Chris

first of all, thanks for developing this long needed, simple add-on. agree with milhous, works great but a stop feature and maybe some buttons would be nice. maybe some highlighting option in the next ver?
