I still like this add-on and would be very happy if it will be updated, so it will be verified by Firefox. Thanks a lot.
Found a workaround for my previous issue- the wildcards work in all fields, not just the ones where they are entered by default. So, the Spamgourmet domains that are not included can be coded as a "custom domain" address and configured automatically. Definitely five stars! Hoping this is compatible with 4.0 or will be soon, as it is amazingly handy!
great addon, definitely helps in the war against the spammers, bravo!
I have a set of requested dea services to which this need be expanded to support
I vote against inclusion of sneakemail.com as it no longer sports a free option and the pricing for what it offers is ludicrously high. I would rather setup a shared webhosting account and install TMDA
To make this work in 3.5x:
1. Go to the All Versions page
2. Right-click on the green "Add to Firefox" link and select "Save Link As" to download the .xpi file.
3. open the .xpi file in 7-zip (Windows: 7-zip.org, Linux: code.google.com/p/k7z, Mac: kekaosx.com).
4. Find install.rdf -> Edit -> change 3.0.* to 3.5.*
5. Drag-and-drop the .xpi file into a Firefox tab.
When do you think there will be an update to support 3.5x for Firefox??
I have just uploaded a new version, which has been tested with ff 3.5 and 3.6. Once approved, you will be able to get it directly from here. Sorry about the delay!
I'd love to try this add-on, but like the others have noted, I need a 3.5x version.
Please update it for the current version of Firefox.
great, except for I cannot view my temporary inbox and so cannot get the confirmation mail. its a waste.
Will it be updated for firefox 3.5?
I will submit a version for FF 3.5 shortly
cant thank you enough for your excellent addon ... i use it with spamgourmet ... it smartly generates a unique email id based on the site at which it is being used ... very convenient ...
i also want to take this opportunity to thank spamgourmet guys too ...
keep going !!
Developer, if you want to include more anti-spam service just like tempoinbox, mailcatch, you may also consider adding spamavert.com as well.
Also, it seems better to group some service together in the option window, e.g. all service which is needed to randomize address and access the page to check email.
If a toolbar button can be provided for a quick access to the grouped service for randomization and access to the page, it will be much more convenient.
Again, thanks for such nice addon.
I like very much this. But maybe change following:
- only one button for options
- access temporary inboxes with one click
- make available in 'tools' menu (i don't want toolbar)
Thank you for making good addon.
Thanks for your review. Several people have now suggested doing something in the Tools menu, so I'll probably do that... Stay tuned :)
This is the most convenient anti-spam email addon I've tried so far. However, I suggest the same things as Toni said. And additionally I recommend to use a drop down list in the options. This way it is much easier to add more services. At the moment, the options dialog gets more and more confusing, because you use a tab for each service to switch to its preferences. That uses a lot of space. With a dropdown list of services that switches the options field, it would be much easier. Also you would have more space then to use the tab switching for the global preferences.
I have added support for mailcatch.com in version 0.2.7, which should be available here shortly.
I don't speak French so couldn't figure out tempomail, and guerrillamail did not work when I tested it.
Let me know if this works for you!
Wow, I can't believe it! You added another service!!! So fast! Thank you so much!
As for tempomail, there is an addon here already from tempomail themselves. So maybe they give you the source or maybe it's easy to find out what it does by observing what the addon does. I don't know much about coding, but as far as I've seen it's possible to unpack the xpi and look what's inside. And it's obviously under GPU license.
And here's the English version of their website:
Thanks again so much! This is really the best anti-spam email addon out there!
Spam Control 0.2.6.0 fixes the problem I have just mentioned before. (Wow, so fast)
This addon now definitely worths 5 star.
An easy shortcut to use different email service. It also simplifies the task of creating site-specific id for spam protection purpose.
Excellent. I am waiting long for such a function available for Firefox.
No tedious task of editing the email address anymore.
P.S: I love the icon assigned to each email, cool!
Very handy for controlling what email addresses you give out. I especially like the feature that lets you give an automatically customized addressed based on what site you're on when you fill in the form. Author is responsive to suggestions, which is also nice.
Installed today. Already it has saved me some annoyances. There are more features than I need at the moment but I'm not complaining. It is free. It is easy to use. What more could I want?
A very good tool to help make protecting ourselves from spam a little easier. I mainly use SpamGourmet and have for years, this is something I've wanted for awhile. I can see this being one of the next great add-ons for Firefox, up there with Adblock.
