@ Fixxxer® : ...So happy to read same opinion !!
I've used Siphon for a couple of years and now I completely remove it.
Why? OK. I'll explain it!
When you remove some of addons because of mistake on one PC - it will remove it on all others. And it's OK, but there is no way to see logs or revert changes back. Restoring backup doesn't help because once Siphon connects to account - it will do the same dirty job.
Why developers didn't add some functions to either correct the list of addons manually on the web site (which has no web interface at all and sometimes is down) or ask the user before doing some changes with possibility to undo them and overwrite incorrect settings on the web site - I don't know, but I'm really tired with it!
Thanks so much for this one. Extremely useful and yet the only add-on of this kind.
Siphon - Add-on Syncronizer
This Add-on above mentioned no longer is working.
I have heard rumor this individual have passed away and is dead, as in crossed over, OK?
My advise is to remove his account after verification of this deceased Ian Halpern.
- Sorry To Break the news.
I recently discovered that this add-on no longer works. Either on Windows or Linux. Is this add-on dead now? I hope not as I really liked the whole idea behind the add-on. I am running the latest version of Firefox.
Shit. I have a registered account. However, when I input my data. The program says that the username is invalid. I also tried to recover my password but it didn't work.
i installed this in my firefox for ubuntu and synched my addons.....when i switched to windows and tried to synch it only managed to grab about 6 addons. im not sure if this is an issue between os or the addon. another thing i would like is to be able to synch greasemonkey and stylish scripts as the synch addons for thoes dont work.
As of 29th July 2013 this addon is no longer working. Last sync date was 2 days ago (27th July) - now no longer displaying in the addon bar, and going into Options (via 'Add-ons'), the Siphon Settings box and selecting the Installer tab, the box is not loading the list of addons. For me this addon is definitely not working at all. -- Firefox 23.0 installed.
I have been using Siphon for a while now and really like the ability to sync all of my Firefox add-ons across all computers I use. However, lately when I attempt to sync I'm seeing an error message saying I am using an invalid username and password. I tried creating a new account and get the same error. I also removed and then re-installed the Siphon add-on but it still has the same problem.
Unable to sync add-ons. Have latest vers of Firefox.
It was working very well and the extension is very useful. But some weeks ago it stop working both on Linux and Windows. I cannot even recover the password. Seems the service died! Is there anything we can do?
The idea of syncing the addons is great but I use the addon now for one week and the downtime of the syncserver seems to be like more than 50%
Seems to be back now: thank you, Ian! I've already left a review, but I will say that I really missed this one when I couldn't use it.
I am trying to create a new account and it's not responding to the creation of a password & username. When I hit 'submit' or 'create' or whatever it says nothing happens. Help! I really want this add-on.
Syncing or loggin not working the past week
Since yesterday, it doesn't display my addon anymore.
Is the server down ?
can it do this yet:
The addon has tons of potential to be very useful. There are a few problems I experience with it, however. If you 'Delete' an addon, it will delete the addon from the current installation. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to remove it completely as a regular 'Remove' would do from the addon manager. Can't say what it's missing, but it is definitely leaving something behind. I usually have to re-install it then remove it through the addon manager. It's not rare that there's an addon that will refuse to be downloaded from the Siphon installer.
Naturally, it does not synchronize addon settings, though this is to be expected. It'd be very useful to have that added as an option, but it wouldn't be fair to expect them to add it considering how much space that would probably take up on their servers. Though I'm sure adding Stylish, Greasemonkey and the like synchronization might be a little more reasonable.
The addon at it's current state is useful as a reminder as to what addons you have yet to add and most of the time as a quick shortcut to downloading them straight from the manager. I'll continue using it with hopes it will be improved.
Now, this addons is just what I was looking for to complete my pack. I am using Lastpass,X-Marks, and now this, and those are also installed on a portable Firefox that I take everywhere. Just amazing. I would like to see more syncornize options, as default time to syncronize, or syncronize every X time, etc... other then that, it's simple and it's perfect! :)
Ah.. I would love if somehow it syncorinzed greasemonkey scripts!
It's just what I was looking for!
just what I need to sync my add-ons with my other Firefoxes. it works even for the different profiles that I have. However, my only complaint is that it also synchronises my theme/persona, and even my Options settings (I had different start-up homepages for the different profiles, but was 'synced'). Though it's not necessarily bad, but an option to unsync themes & Options settings would be great.
Perhaps easier to use than FEBE& OPIE(which will save & restore addons in Linux as well as Windows
Also I have to mention the Windows Applet Mozbackup (only available on Windows
Generally speaking fairly pleased with this as together with xmarks you can backup pretty well all of your Firefox Profile
thank you! Working with FF 12.0
