- Rated 4 out of 5by Jason Warren, 5 years ago90% of the time, this add-on is an absolute lifesaver. The only issue is that there will be periodic moments where it all breaks down... My groups won't load, all the tabs from every group appear on my screen...
I suspect this is not the fault of the developer, but rather a side effect of updates in Firefox etc. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14055541, 5 years agoVery useful addon. Some notes;
Can be very sluggy under heavy use.
When switching group, opening existing tab group in new blank window forced reloads all tab in the group, which is bit annoying.
Edit: This is the review from same guy that has send the bug report and got response by email. Thanks for replying!
Edit 2024/01/05;
It seems like STG conflicting with Foxytab addon. Disabling Foxytab make STGs editing like closing/moving tabs significantly faster and there is no crush.Developer response
posted 5 years agoFF version lower than 73 had an error, due to which I had to reload the tabs so that they were not lost. - Rated 4 out of 5by loonania, 5 years ago

Would be nice to have automatic backups as I close Firefox. Until now it´s only possible to have daily backups, which are generated when I´m starting Firefox. I don´t think that this is a smart solution, because these backups are not including the tabs I´m opening in the session.Developer response
posted 5 years agoHey. Unfortunately this is not possible due to technical reasons - it is impossible to do anything when Firefox closes, it terminates all the processes.
But I want to tell you something, if you set the interval to 1 day - the addon will backup every 2 hours (and not once at startup) and overwrite it - Rated 4 out of 5by Max, 5 years agoThe addon is nearly perfect and I love the group icons. It`s the best addon I´ve seen to manage tabs. But sadly it`s not working correctly anymore. When I change the group, some of the tabs change the group with me and stay active. Are you aware of this bug (probably from a Firefox update, since before it was running great)? I use Firefox Quantum.
Update: It seems like other Tab Group Addons are having the same problems.Developer response
posted 5 years agoThis is bug in Firefox Webextensions API https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1577480
It has already been fixed, wait for the release - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15210655, 6 years agoThe latest versions of STG are deleting my tabs in all tab groups that are secondary windows. I had to revert back to 3.4.4 to fix the problem. On latest firefox v68 working fine on 3.4.4, but 4.0+ has the problem. Great add-on still! Thank you for the backup feature, it's a life saver.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13471952, 6 years agohelps me manage my tabs,
sometimes the functionality is not correct though, a tab is moved when I swap between tabs
thanks Developer - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 12154843, 6 years agoFF 108 - STG v4.7.2.1
This addon is a replacement for the old abandoned Tab Groups.
The addon works correctly overall.
Its only remaining issues currently are:
- bookmark auto backups. They're a bit messy.. use the hourly file option instead.
- if you open a 2nd window and close the first one, then you'll have to restore from a temp backup.
Its best features for me are the groups manager panel and the quick tab search.
Btw the extension stopped receiving updates 1 year ago. Hopefully it won't break at some point...

OLD VERSIONS
FF v73.0.1 x64 - STG v4.4.25
So far, this version seems to works correctly.
However, there isn't still a "restore from bookmarks" manual button and I haven't dared to try again the "secondary window" problem mentioned below.
FF v69.01 x64 - STG v4.0.62
[..] Sadly it has various problems, like:
- if you close your main window before any secondary one, all your tabs order and pins will be lost! (bug)
- it saves backups periodically but.. it cannot restore from bookmarks! There's only an option from file.
- also, it doesn't clean old sessions.. I had to delete like 2K obsolete bookmarks still there.
- it doesn't save the setting to NOT use a folder for backups. Luckly the bookmark location is ok.
For the rest this extensions works, but it needs an update asap. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15044373, 6 years agoОтличный аддон на новый ФФ! А возможно сделать, чтобы после закрытия вкладки НЕ переключалось на другую группу? И по alt-tab тоже. Ужасно бесит, ты альтабнулся и уже другая группа загружается.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15154957, 6 years agoIt does follow the footsteps of Tab Groups of old pretty well. However, when I try to import a Tab Groups backup file, it doesn't do anything. Does anyone know of a solution? If this problem can be solved, the rating will definitely go up!

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14744526, 6 years agoUpdating from old Firefox, great replacement for the old tab groups addon,
Quick question - in the old add on when restoring tabs it would restore the tab including its history (the previous & newer webpages loaded by each tab), is that still the case ?
Also, encountered an issue/bug where the addon reorganises the order the tabs are shown from the last time you shut down pc to when booting it the next day - sometimes moving them to a different group (so far this only happens on tabs on the same webpage - the homepage - google )Developer response
posted 6 years agoHi! Thanks for review! Addon can no longer restore tab history, the browser does not provide this feature - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13487987, 6 years agoFirst, thank you for this fantastic add-on. Congratulations, is a very nice work.
Second, this add-on deserves all the stars. But I am going to give 4 starts, just because the delayed start-up issue (it takes lot of time to launch in my FF). This is a small issue, and only happens at FF' launching, but it will be great if the Dev can eliminate de annoying start-up delay.
Thanks in advance! - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14359264, 6 years agoWorks well and seems to hold and endless amount of tabs without slowing down the browser. I would have given it 5 stars if it offered a way to sort A-Z or Z-A, etc. Much better than the original Firefox version.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Coconutsales, 6 years agoThis is not Tab Groups. There is no functionality that I expected from an addon that claims to be inspired by it. I have found no option to skip the "groups menu" dropdown and go straight into the management screen, and further the groups management screen opens itself into a tab or a window depending on the setting you have set, yet neither of these options were the way the original Tab Groups worked. It used to be that it seemingly created a navigation bar-less fullscreen window with the tabs displayed. I don't know what the limitations of quantum's haphazardly asinine addon system are, but that's rather disappointing. I don't like the current standing separate window view, nor the tab version. Very clunky to use.
Further, although explicitly stated as being planned for a future update, you cannot freely arrange the tab groups in the grid view, which is unfortunate.
This was not worth updating from Firefox V56.0.2 for, though unfortunately I was forced into doing so by the fact that many webpages have begun to discontinue support for the legacy version of Firefox. I am left with no other choice.
Edit: Boosting up to four stars because I found an amazing workaround. You can right click > PIN the "Manage Groups" tab and then, voila, there is an always-present button you can press to bring you right to the overview screen. It's on the left, not the right, but hey it's better than being forced to use that menu. - Rated 4 out of 5by Pierre-Adrien Buisson, 6 years agoWorks very well. This addon is basically a panorama on steroids. You can use it like a really simple "tab grouping" feature, but there are advanced features that makes it really powerful (for instance, automatically assign certain urls to a specific group). The only downside I notice is the time it takes initializing when you first open the browser. I wonder why it's so long and if there are means to improve this. Other than this, the addon is brilliant!

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14314266, 6 years agoVery practical add-on. Like it a lot. It makes my browsing life much better organize. Good job. Four stars only as it still seem to be a wee buggy. The backup functionality does not work. In Downloads I have every two hours failed download - files with names stg-backup-yyy-mm-dd@drive4jk.json. And if I go to settings -> backup and try to open backup folder nothing happens. Hopefully soon it will sorted and it will deserve dive starts.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Huy Pro, 6 years agoYour add-on is the main reason I decided to update my Firefox lately. But it would be perfect if the old "Move to group" feature in each tab's context menu is implemented, just like the good old days...
