Why was Shopping Helper created?
The Shopping Helper extension is the platform where we can put our new ideas for on-line shopping and not have to worry about how the features fit into the overall business strategy. Since the Firefox extension framework allows a relative fast development iteration cycle, we can also not worry about personnel resources and constraints. To date, this extension is the product of a single developer, working on it entirely in their own free time.
What's next for Shopping Helper
The main next feature to add is the ability to synchronize lists to a central server, so that the shopping lists can be access from anywhere. A natural follow-up to this would to have the lists viewable from a web site (if the user desired), so that the ideas of wish lists, or shared shopping lists could be added.
Some other future ideas:
- ability to organize lists into groups and/or a shopping list hierarchy;
- better UI handling to make complexity of add-on disclosed more progressively; and
- improvements to the price history functions and displays.
