I think the developers lack of response says a lot. I think he is just looking to advertise his site, nothing more. I consider this abuse to be honest. He is what I submitted to Mozilla concerning this add-on:

" I doubt that what i am going to say concerning this add-on violates Mozilla's policy's, however i think allowing advertising using an add-on will lead to many add-on makers doing the same, thus junking up the add-ons that Mozilla has become famous for. I personally would have never allowed an add-on that advertises the creators site to be embedded in the Firefox button. I think Mozilla should seriously consider this to prevent such abuse. There are other means of advertising your site like in the description page for add-ons. "

The button and signatures

First of all, let me state that I recognize that the Firefox button in my theme needs to be changed. I have stated this in my "what's next for this theme' profile. Secondly, the reason for changing the Firefox button in the first place, was that I found it to be annoying in its bright orange glory. I decided to make one that didn't steal my focus whilst browsing, and due the way I went about and did it, I had the spare room to fit in the name of my web site, thus signing the theme in the process. Let's turn this into a constructive discussion on more suitable, yet visible places in FF where the artists behind the themes can place their signatures. Google Chrome devote an entire "Theme created by:" section in the new tabs page, which I believe is an approach that ensures recognition for theme developers and furthermore motivates them to keep working. Theme makers, and especially Firefox theme makers, spend a lot of time and effort creating and maintaining their themes. A space to place their signature, perhaps like Chrome's "Theme created by:", should be provided for Firefox theme makers as well.
