Message from the official hompage of (( sharemenot ))
As of July 20, 2014, ShareMeNot is no longer being maintained as a standalone tool.
We're excited to announce that we have incorporated ShareMeNot's functionality into the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Privacy Badger tool, and we recommend that all ShareMeNot users transition to using Privacy Badger.
Thank you for your continued interest in and support of ShareMeNot!
it doesn't work anymore (no button available) with Firefox 40.0.2
I like Firefox, but I also hate Mozilla for so many times making add-ons not working anymore with a newer Fx version...
I will have to reinstall Fx 39.0, with which ShareMeNot 188.8.131.52-signed was working perfectly well...
I hope you'll be able to fix this issue one of these days !
Thanks you :-)
NB Firefox since version 3.6 made improvements on some parts, but sh...
a lot a things worse too...
It was easy to change things in about:config...
And since, we'll have to install add-ons instead to make the job...
A stupid thing, imho...
excellent plug-in! must have!
Read NT 5 = Windows 2000, i.e. FireFox 10.0.12esr. I used the "compatibility report" extension more than a year ago to report this bug, but I guess this is yet another excuse for /dev/null, and the ShareMeNot developers never saw it. One star, uninstall, and remove from my favourites.
this says no restart needed but you need to restart after installing this.
i hope this does not suck.
Just a note: If you block Twitter, you will not be able to use the service, i.e., post tweets. (Also posted to bug reports groups.)
You can keep the Twitter box checked and use a Twitter client and it works just fine.
would you please give an option to deactivate the icon in the statusbar?
it used to worked great (no bothering icons of all the social-foo), but nowadays it adds buttons which we should (as said on the icons) click to activate.
also, the icons look very ugly on the webpages and the user has NO WAY to go to the old behaviour, nor the user can disable those icons/buttons.
so i rate it only 3 stars.
Bisher habe ich die Like-Buttons erfolgreich ausgeblendet. Seit heute werde ich aber überall aufgefordert, dies Buttons zu aktivieren! Was soll das? Ist das ein Fehler im Update?
An excellent idea, but slows down my browser significantly. Could likely be a combination of this & Ghostery combined. Am now using the anti-social ad block plus filter instead.
I like the idea of this addon but nothing happens when I click the button on sites that supposedly have blocked items. Options however do seem to work and the test page also works properly. Just wish the button would work.
Sehr wichtiges Sicherheits AdOn für Anonymes Surfen wer Socal-Netzwerke nutzt.
You access the ShareMeNot options via Tools > ShareMeNot > Manage Options, not through the add-on manager.
This info is available at the add-ons home page, as well as a FAQ and a test page to see if the add-on is working.
It's a great add-on, I've been looking for something like this. It doesn't completely block all sites, you can access the sites you want to use by clicking the button on a web site that has them.
Ref JackOfSpades' review. Yeah I have the same issue. Pressing 'options' simply does nothing but possibly refreshing the page. Due to this I'm going to disable and remove this add-on. Reason being Im just not sure what it does. Nothing is visible to the user.
after enabling this add-on, i click on "options" and nothing happens, except maybe a page refresh......i don't even know if this thing is working since it doesn't tell me how many times it blocked xyz etc
is this thing even for real? i noticed its coming from a research university school..... doesn't seem like it is even legit
You need to use this.
