I wish this add-on still existed for FF3. There are a few that are supposed to do the same but they don't work for me.

This is a nice idea, BUT, it creates tons of untitled tabs which just clutter up the tab bar. There does not appear to be a nice "remove unused tabs" feature, so they just keep piling up on every restart.

I've been looking for something.. somewhat like this.. only.. I'd rather have them stacked somehow. ex. say you have site a, site b and site c, and you're opening multiple tabs for all of em.. would it be possible to have the tabs listed as such and have their own tabs sort of like a menu bar? site a, click, shows you the tabs you've opened within that site.. tab site a1 , a2, a3 etc... XD I know im not making much sense.. sorry!! anyhows.. this is good enough.. so thanks ^^

Separator's color Not yet rated

Is there any posibility to change separator's color?

useful add-on; room for improvement Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great idea. This plug-in gives me the benefit of having related tabs together, without the extra work of moving them around.

I use this with Vertigo (vertical tabs).

Like someone else said, it would be nice to adjust the granularity of grouping, so that a.b.c.org was grouped with d.c.org. Ideal would be a multi-level sort: sort by top-level domain first (e.g. org vs com), then second-level, etc., then by URL. (But I guess sorting is a different issue than grouping.)
Anyway, you could have an option to separate tabs with different 3rd-level domains, or only separate them if the 2nd-level domain is different...

Also, as others have said, it would be good to get rid of separators when the tabs they were separating have gone away.

Finally, when using this with Vertigo (vertical tab list), it would be very nice to have the separators be thin lines, instead of full-text-height.

Thanks again for a useful extension.

almost! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I quite like this extension, it makes it easier for me to keep track of what I'm doing and reading in different groups of tabs. I agree with the others though that the separators can be a pain when it comes to closing tabs. Hope to see some development along people's ideas regarding this. Otherwise, good job! :)

spelt? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

separate and seperate and saperate beat the heck out of spelt! SPELLED!!

Not ready for prime time Rated 2 out of 5 stars

On my XP install of, every separator creates a blank tab (Untitled) next to it. I delete them and they come back the next time. Disabling the plugin stops this behavior.

It's a good idea, so I hope this can be overcome.

Very good idea Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Keep on this. Very interesting, and definitely in the right direction. Props and keep working!

Possible enhacements:
* Better domain handling; For example ar.yahoo.com and ar.news.yahoo.com should be on the same category.
* Session save awareness. When you restore the session, the empty tricky tabs shouldn't be restored.

very nice Rated 4 out of 5 stars

works well i like it but it does not automatically close the separators when you close the other tabs and it does not seem to work with my back a tab and forward a tab buttons!
but still a great idea and a keeper!

A very good idea Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I love the idea of sorting out your website sessions, this extension is a very good idea. But the orange separation bar clashes horribly with the interface.

Bob Fahey: "Separate" is actually the correct spelling. Even if it was spelt wrong, giving this a bad rating for that reason is ridiculous.

You guys are on the right track!!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Learn to spell seperate Not yet rated

I would learn to spell Separate prior to writing a plugin.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2).
