Doesn't notify it has been installed, doesn't say what it has done, doesn't allow you to opt out of anything it does, and when uninstalled, leaves stuff behind. Wouldn't install unless you are 100% sure what it does and how (and if you are, you can probably just as well make the changes by hand).
This add-on wasn't written with you in mind
"Doesn't notify it has been installed" - Firefox notifies you when an add-on is installed. You want a redundant notification?
"doesn't say what it has done" - Read the add-on description?
"doesn't allow you to opt out of anything it does" - You're right! Because opting-out of a setting would go against DISA STIG.
"when uninstalled, leaves stuff behind." - How about instead of leaving a generic comment like this, file a support ticket and tell me what "stuff" it leaves behind - and I'll see if I can fix it, maybe. Keep in mind, most people who are going to want to use this add-on probably aren't going to uninstall it because the settings it enforces are REQUIRED.
"Wouldn't install unless you are 100% sure what it does and how" - You're right! If you aren't 100% sure what it does, you shouldn't install it, because you'll just become confused and leave reviews such as this one. Clearly this add-on wasn't written for you.
"(and if you are, you can probably just as well make the changes by hand)" - You could, but this can significantly save you time if you need to deploy the add-on to multiple systems.
Reviews like the above really discourage authors from continuing to work on their add-ons. Why not file a support ticket instead of leaving such a nasty, non-helpful review? Help improve the add-on, not leave comments like "leaves stuff behind".
Actually, disregard all of the above.
I hope your review discourages others like yourself from installing the add-on. That way I won't receive any more reviews like this one.
Dont Install Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This is bad !!!! does nothing. Out of the 21 recommendations mentioned in the DISA STIG for securing firefox it does only 12 of them. Dont waste your time , I have wasted enough.
Please provide more detail
securitychick - please provide more detail:
Version of Firefox you're using
Settings which aren't enforced
Version of DISA STIG you're comparing to
I have created a support page at http://code.google.com/p/caffsec-secure-firefox/issues/list so that you may provide a detailed description of the problem.
ALSO please note that only PART of the DISA STIG is implemented, per the description "The implemented settings are part of the Mozilla Firefox STIG".
DoD STIG requirements relating to installation of DoD certificates will not be fulfilled by this add-on.
