  • very good Add-on, hope it can work in Quantum....

  • This is by far my favorite and most used Add-on. And it's the main reason I'm still using Firefox 56.0, since it's not available on Quantum, and there isn't another Add-on that can do the same thing.

It easily highlights multiple keywords at the same time and the highlights applies to all the tabs simultaneously.
The user doesn't have to open another window to enter the keywords. Instead, the keywords are added in the search field which is next to the browser's URL field.

This add-on and (Tab Mix Plus) are two add-ons which I can't do without.
That's why I'm using Waterfox (FF56 Spin off), until these add-ons are available on Firefox Quantum. There's nothing Quantum has that is worth loosing this add-on.

If you want to use this add-on now, get Waterfox browser. The Waterfox browser works with this add-on and most of all the old Firefox 56 add-ons.

  • Hi, like all of you I'm very sad to have lost the possibility use of SearchWP, I'm still navigating between FF 56 and 57. I just found a reasonably good and very recent substitute: Search Highlighter (https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/search-highlighter-2/). It's not as easy to use (better tick the Accuracy: Partially option) and has fewer options but it does part of the job.
    Olivier.

  • Essential extension, only sad it doesn't work on Quantum. But now I just became a happy Waterfox user! Thanks Anonymous below for the tip. Hope Mozilla guys will rethink their strategy.

  • This add-on doesn't work at Firefox Quantum,but I don't remove.
Let the autoupdate setting be tuned on,and I'm looking forward to update this add-on someday.

    P.S.
One thing I can say for sure is that Firefox Quantum is the last resort to counter to Google Chrome.

If Mozilla didn't release Firefox Quantum, what had happened?
Maybe Firefox is completely defeated by Chrome, and would follow the same pattern,Microsoft Edge.

To transfer to WebExtensions API killed over 80% of add-ons and offend add-on developers.
I really sympathize with its disaster, but I also think it can't avoid by any way,to continue to use Firefox.

  • Addon SearchWP is a MUST HAVE!! But firefox 57...

How to keep good old addons: https://www.waterfoxproject.org/downloads

  • Другие разработчики уже делают похожие плагины к примеру- Multi-Keywords Highlighter , а разработчик SearchWP по прежнему кричит что невозможно, нереально, и так далее..

  • One of the simplest but best addons for firefox

  • I really miss your product! My life has never been the same and it's very depressing. Thank you for all years you have given me joy and hope one day you will find trust and design again. Thank you again for your hard work and time, until we meet again. Aloha Danielle

  • I have been using this fabulous add-on for many years. I think it's almost my most important add-on. Well - since Firefox Quantum - I feel helpless when I want to find something with the search box. Reading the search results individually is more than painful. So I changed the browser first. Waterfox supports (for how long?) SearchWP. Because searching the web is essential for me, I hope there is a way to make this add-on compatible with Firefox 57. Unfortunately, there is no substitute for this wonderful add on

  • К сожалению в 57 уже не работает

    Developer response

I'd love to support Firefox 57 (with all my extensions) but

    1) Webextensions are just *too* limited. You simply can't do anything useful with them until somebody adds an API just for you. It already starts with the most basic functionality of SearchWP: there does not seem to be a way to modify the search bar.

    2) Mozilla ruthlessly breaking all existing extensions on purpose and removing customization possibilities with every new version of Firefox made me loose trust in the foundation and the browser itself - I'm not willing to spend my spare time on a project that has set a course that goes against everything Firefox once stood for.

  • I love this add-on. However now it does not work with the new Firefox Quantum. Would it be possible to update or be compatible with Firefox Quantum?

  • I want Firefox 57 to correspond.

When searching, can not support Firefox 57 by displaying a dedicated bar?
    Like "Enhanced word highlight.user.js"

  • Extension indispensable. En attendant qu'elle soit compatible avec FF57, j'utilise
    https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/multi-keywords-highlighter/

    very important extension!
unfortunately, Mozilla prevents a continuation in Firefox 57
and to the developer a big THANKS for this add-on!
Does anyone know an emergency replacement?

  • "SearchWP" has been the only add-on out there offering this nifty feature ever since "Googlebar Lite" was discontinued. I depend on it in my daily web use.

That's why a web extension compatible version would be greatly appreciated!!

    [EDIT:] @Developer
    Dear Mr Braun,
thank you very much indeed for your reply. It's very regretable that there will be no compatible version for FF57+ with the way things are right now. However, I understand the reasons.

Please, allow me to express my gratitude for the effort and time you've put into this add-on so far.

    Best regards

  • work good

  • SearchWP (together with Conform Searchbox) is so great that it keeps me from switching to any other browser.

Please make SearchWP available to other browsers as well, because (unfortunately) Firefox is dying.

  • Like the previous user I love your add-ons, very very useful, I can't go on without.
Like you I really don't understand the goal of mozilla foundation to make a so big counterstrike bad upgrade of firefox. Trying to keep the 56 version until it works.

Anyway thanks so much for your add-on!

    Developer response

Already available by setting the hidden variable "extensions.searchwp.highlight.tokensCount" [1] to the number of colors you want and defining the same number of user defined colors [2].

    [2] https://github.com/legege/searchwp/wiki/FAQ#how-do-i-change-highlighting-colors

  • Excellent, and that my browser can not cope with this task

  • This is a unique highlighter but ... does not seem to work with stylish and style set to change background color ... But maybe there's a solution ...

  • Can you make the button appear inside the search bar (As an Option)?

  • My Extension List

    http://pastebin.com/2XccSSiw
    [up for 1 M starting '11.01.2016']

    Disabled until forever.

  • Great addon, it saves you lots of time when searching for specific texts on a web page.

The downside of this addon is it slows down Firefox on websites that contain lots of text.
Sometimes it even freezes Firefox for some time, in that case Firefox starts shooting messages about stopping the script:

    Script: chrome://searchwp/content/highlighter/nodeHighlighter.js:41

For that reason i can't give it 5 stars.

That's a shame because this addon is awesome in many ways and without that slowing problem i can easily call it an essential addon for every searchbox user.
    Hopefully it can be fixed.

Hi Chilius, it's probably safe to assume that you're working on a very slow machine, since even on my 6 year old notebook slowdowns are barely noticeable in daily use.
However there's a hidden setting, that allows you to specifically prevent the issues you're describing. See the documentation for "extensions.searchwp.highlight.maxColorizedHighlights" at
    https://github.com/legege/searchwp/wiki/Documentation#hidden-settings

That being said there has already been put quite some effort into optimizing the highlighter code so it should be sufficiently fast even on slow machines (and it's probably as good as it can get with the possibilities Firefox is currently offering for Add-On developers). However there should be yet another performance boost as soon as "Multiprocess Firefox" aka "e10s" will hit a stable release.

If you should still experience any issues feel free to report them to our issue tracker at https://github.com/legege/searchwp/issues
