Questions Rated 3 out of 5 stars

* Can you please add a support mail and a homepage?
* When I restart my browser everything is gone. How do I save my hightlights?
* Why do the "hit" number turn from red to blue when clicked on?

I suggest that you save the data to SQLite as Prostetnic highlighter (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/prostetnic/?src=search) do.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (7.6.1-signed).

- If you uncheck the "Auto-clear keyword list" preference in group 2, Search term highlighter will keep the last keyword list.
- Clicking the "hit number" precisely allows users to toggle between blue and red, as you answered yourself your third question.

I love this app, however:
1) The green (scrolling) arrows are not working for me;
2) Once the app's own search box is opened, the whole toolbar shifts and folds, and remains so after the search box is closed. It only can be restored after re-launching Firefox, which is rather irritating.

Hi.

I am sorry for the inconvenience you encountered. After investigating, it is possible that the localstore.rdf file of your Firefox profile is corrupted.
If you have not a complicated toolbar configuration, you can try to delete this file, Firefox will automatically rebuild it, but you will have to reconfigure the toolbar.

---

Please, try this:

Go to Windows start menu, and in the run box type the following:

firefox.exe -safe-mode

and follow the instructions. Be aware that this will reset Firefox and you will have to reinstall all your add-ons, but you should get rid of the toolbar problem.

Hope this will help.

Love it, but highlighted terms on some sites display backwards Rated 4 out of 5 stars

If I search for Windows on this site, http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2847882, the highlighted term, in page, appears "swodniW".

Thank you for reporting this inconvenience I'll certainly never stumble on! Next version will fix it and will be released in about one week. Hope you'll wait until there.

Again, thank you for your "troppus".

Is there a help file ? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The functions sound great. But HOW do I make it work ??? Is there a help file I can't find?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (7.3.1-signed).

The add-on should work with the default settings right after its installation.
To access the help file, just right-click the toolbar button and click one of the four buttons located at the menu bottom. A window will then open with the help button at the bottom right.

I'am not sure to understand your comment, but thank you for your support anyway.

I am investigating about it. Thanks.

One of my beta testers is just testing the add-on in real time with version 36.0a1 nightly and E10s enabled at the time I'am writting down this message, and he reports the add-on seems to work finely.

I do not know what to say ...

Great, needs only URL exclusion list Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Amazing Add-On that only needs the possibility to disable highlighting on certain pages like for example on Gmail, because it keeps introducing color highlights in e-mails that are composed in Gmail!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (7.1.1-signed).

After doing deeper investigations and according to beta testers, URL exclusion list seems not to be the solution, as the add-on should not highlight in any textarea. So, this must be considered as a minor inconvenience that will be fixed in next version. Meanwhile, you can click on the toolbar button to temporarily disable highlighting.

Anyway, many thanks for reporting this issue.

Great tool !
For further development, I would suggest to arrange the option to use shortcuts (ctrl+F) and maybe also a description of options as I don't understand some of them... Maybe a FAQ page with examples or a video tutorial...
Anyway, I am aware of the time and energy it represents and I really appreciate the very good work done so far !
Thank you so much !

You can click on the help button in the preference window to access the help page where all the options are described, except some which are self-explanatory. You can also find additional informations in the "Developer comments" section at the end of this page.
Thank you for your support.

Would the author be so kind to explain exactly what he means by "grouping keywords"?.
I see no difference at all whether this is checked or un-checked in the options menu, nor do I see any difference in about:config when I type searchtermhighlighter.
Thank you.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (6.9.1-signed).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

The option "Grouping keywords" applies only to keywords captured in search engines, thus avoiding the need of entering quotes. This is equivalent to: "Treat as single expression". Keywords entered manually in the text box are not altered by this option as they are always treated as expressions. Notice that this option was requested by some users.

Try to type in Google: "valence electrons" without quotes, and then check and uncheck the option "Grouping keywords", you will see the magic.

For more clarity, the option "Grouping keywords" will be renamed to: "Treat as expression" in next version.

Hi,
This tool is almost perfect. What I miss is the fact that I should set colors and keywords every time I restart my browser. Is there a way to avoid that?

Hello :) I understand different people have different needs. That's why if there's an option to "Remember keywords" which could be switched on-off, the tool would be 5 stars for all :)
This tool is a great job and helps me not to lose my sight while working!

Thank you!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (6.8.1-signed).

Hello.

- By design, color settings (and all other settings) are persistent across browser sessions. If you lose your settings after restarting Firefox, it's likely you are facing an issue.
- The keyword list is automatically cleared when Firefox closes. This behavior is also by design and reflects the user requests.

In fact, If the keyword list is automatically cleared, I lose one star, and if it's not, I also lose one star! Maybe in future version there will be an option to check saying: "Auto-clear keyword list when Firefox closes". But remember the main purpose of this add-on is to highlight keywords you typed in search engine, so it is more logical to clear the keyword list when Firefox starts as there is no search initiated yet.

-----
Ok, so, in next version, if the already existing option "Auto-clear keyword list" is unchecked, the keyword list will no longer be cleared when Firefox closes. Hope this will get closer to your needs. Keep in mind though, that any search initiated will automatically override the keyword list. This automatic capture is by design and cannot be switched off. In future version, there will be an extra option: "Enable keyword capture", thus decorrelating the automatic function from the manual one.
