  • This is one extension I find to be more of a obstruction than anything useful. I type in the keywords I am wanting to search for and all I get is a page full of searches, I click on one that matches what I am wanting information on and just get another page full of searches, click on something on that page and get another page of searches, never finding the information I am searching for.
  • This is a terrible site!!! How do I remove it???!!!
  • Browser hijacker with ads.
  • This add on is usually installed by deceptive ads and then acts as a browser hijacker. We have had numerous users get this without knowing how they got it and a few remembered details enough that when we investigated it we found that they were being deceived by ads like fake "Download" buttons at clip art sites or "Start here" buttons at a survey site. This is why they have over 300,000 users and less then 50 reviews here. Wish Mozilla would do something about it!
  • Firefox, please unlist this extension.

This add-on DID NOT work as expected.
After installation, it lists itself as a default search engine in my Firefox settings ... but it is NOT a search engine.
I disliked how it derailed my searches, and how it displays advertisements.
    It was NOT useful.
It reactivated itself after being removed from the extensions list.
I will NOT continue to use this add-on.

  • What is Search Encrypt?

The Malwarebytes research team has determined that Search Encrypt is a browser hijacker. These so-called "hijackers" manipulate your browser(s), for example to change your startpage or searchscopes, so that the affected browser visits their site or one of their choice. This one also displays advertisements.

Search Encrypt is the PUP that uses misleading techniques to prevent removal. Use Reimage to locate malicious components and get rid of them faster than with uninstall instructions. A full system scan blocks virus reappearance and prevents traffic to malicious domains.

This page aims to help you remove Search Encrypt “Virus”. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

Are you facing difficulty navigating the web due to some nagging and aggressively popping ads, banners and pop-ups? Do you experience sudden page redirects? Has some strange new toolbar, a search engine or a homepage taken over your browser? If yes, then a browser hijacking program like Search Encrypt could be the most probable source of your disturbance. Stay on this page to learn how to safely uninstall it and remove all of its potentially unwanted modifications and ads, as well as how to reverse the settings of your Chrome, Firefox or Explorer back to normal.

This is a browser Hijack garbage! It has been reported and Mozilla does nothing.
  • Not merely non-useful, but worrisome. Deleted the thing immediately. Program behaves more like malware than anything useful. Searches return a page full of click-bait sites, many of which are blocked or warned against by Sophos. A couple that Sophos missed behaved like dedicated phishing sites.
  • love it
  • Looks like someone spamming AMO with slightly modified versions of the addon integration for an obscure "secure" search engine. Highly suspect.
