About this Add-on
Scrapbook MAF Creator is an add-on for the excellent Scrapbook or Scrapbook+ extensions for Firefox which allows you to create a MAF (Mozilla Archive Format) file from a stored web site. Scrapbook MAF Creator stores all of your stored site data in the MAF archive. Once the stored site has been archived, you can delete it from Scrapbook, secure in the knowledge that it is safely and completely stored for later reference.
Thanks to those who have left feedback. To respond to some of those comments:
1. Paolo raises some good points, most of which are addressed by this update. He misses the point, though, when it comes to the MAF format itself. That's because this extension aims to do something that MAF itself doesn't do, which is to store all linked files in the archive rather than create external links to them. However, I do think it should be pointed out that this extension does not create a fully compliant MAF archive. See the help or the support site for more details.
2. The critical difference between this and UNMHT or the excellent MAFF extension is that they don't include linked files in the archive they create, they leave the files on your hard drive and link to them. This is explained in the help and is not what I want when archiving Scrapbook entries. If you want to do that, I suggest using the MAFF extension directly without wasting hard drive space by storing the site in Scrapbook. You can then load the .maff or .mht directly into Firefox, which is very nice.
The author of Scrapbook decided to change the internal API and appears not to have told anybody. Not a good idea. These changes caused the erroneous error messages asking users to upgrade Scrapbook. Since the API in Scrapbook Plus hasn't been changed, this extension now supports both independently.
...and he's STILL changing the API.
-Updated max. FF version to 6.*.
-Fixed breakage in SB 1.4.7. API changed again!
-Improved checking for set prefs.
-Fixed version checking and prefs update.
-Fixed tab opening on update.
-Added hints section to help.
-Improved help title text appearance.
-Improved path error reporting.
-Fixed a bug when saving Scrapbook folders that contained sub-folders.
