Really The Best, for Now Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you for return to the way of Download Statusbar! DMS3 is the best, but to go on like this, I suggest you set download controls (buttons) within the preview balloon, because then it does not take one more click to open the context menu, which is only recommended for the options general. In the future, consider enable further customization of the skin, such as font color, relief bar and downloads. Great job, worth the donation!

Looks similar to CJs Download Statusbar, but does it perform the same? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It is good to see a dev picking up the old Download Statusbar by C.J., which sadly died. Having said that, I must admit that this version looks the same, but in use doesn't seem to be similar to old CJs DSB. A few suggestions:

Many have tried to follow up on CJs DSB, and one of the biggest request was the "continue DL when FF is closed". This version does suggest this in the Preferences - Features - Automatically continue downloads in the download manager...), but if FF is closed, the DL is cancelled and lost. At least on my system it is. Taking a peek in the .xpi it proves that there is indeed a launch_on_close.js. Looking at the code, it could be that the continue DL option is disabled when the user uses Private Browsing. This is similar to the original CJs DSB. Be warned however, that this is not a bug in this DM (S3).

As mentioned already by others, this DLM does NOT give the user the possibility to select DL location. It just DLs and a user will find him/ herself searching where the DLed file is. The dev did mention that DL location can be specified, but this is the general FF DL location. So in summary, all DLs are dumped in the same default location. It'd be nice if the dev ever came round to introducing this option.

A small thing, but it would be nice to be able to select whether to make a sound when a DL is completed. Now it just chimes and you can't turn it off. This could potentially drive some users mad. (My fault - See addition below!)

If a DL is paused and then restarted, the DL starts again from scratch. So no resume, just a restart. Is this too perhaps related to potential Private Browsing or just a feature claimed but not solidified (yet)?

My very personal conclusion: indeed, it does look similar to CJs legendary Download Statusbar everybody loved. But in use it looks like many of the features that made CJs DSB top of the FF addons list are not in this one. Maybe it is the previously mentioned private browsing, maybe the dev will add them later, but for now it does look like CJs legend (including the mini mode), but seems to perform pretty similar to other DLM addons.

Addition - after another quick look at the code and an additional test, I've to give a correction here: the "Continue DL in DLM if FF is closed" does, contrary to my earlier findings, indeed work... if the user DOES NOT use Private Browsing (see your FF settings: Preferences > Security). If Private Browsing is disabled, the still running DLs are transferred correctly to a "stand alone" window to be finished. It'd be good if the dev warns the users for this...

Addition 2 - On reply of Oleksandr:
--- You're right, I apologise. It turns out that the screen of the netbook I used initially was too small to show your Preferences window completely (1024 x 600). Hence, the "Play sound when download completes" checkmark was "off screen", and since there was no scroll bar to reach it...
--- You're also right about the addons limitations in Private Browsing mode. As you saw I already picked something like that up from your coding. And to be fair, CJs DSB also had this limitation. But it would be good if you warned users about this limitation up front...

Download Manager - Settings - tab General - [x] "Play sound when download completes"

other your bug reports - it special features private mode
I'm sorry, but I can not do anything - it is the policy of Mozilla

Suggestion: I want a "copy location to clipboard" option. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I'd like to be able to right click and select "copy file location to clipboard". This would help save me a couple steps in several scenarios: emailing an item, sharing it, attaching it to a document, opening it in any of several apps with the "open" menu, etc.

Suggested enhancement Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Have been using for quite a while and works well, but I would like to have better control over WHERE the file is downloaded. As it is now, sometimes I can choose the location and at others, it ;auto downloads to user-temp folder & has to be cut & pasted to desired location.
I rate this a 4, but the site will not let me enter a number, it goes to quick search instead

Thank you for an excellent add-on.

There is a problem with mini mode not sticking. On every browser restart, the first download always defaults back to full mode. As someone who only uses mini mode, I have to keep changing it back to mini mode each browser restart.

It would be nice if like Download Statusbar, it kept this setting between browser restarts.

So far, it works like a charm. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Nice to see the original come back to life and love the added features and control. Great work. Would love to see compatibility written in for Palemoon 25.x (Firefox engine 24.9).

In reference to an earlier review mentioning a bug, involving the pause/resume not always working (sometimes requiring a full re-download). You answered that this was a limitation in Firefox, but in actuality, this has to do with a download's originating server, which needs to support range headers for resume to work. Thought this might be helpful, because hopefully you can add code in a future update to detect this and notify the user in the download's info/tooltip, if resume is not supported on that current server.

*** Added Request on 2015-01-10, 8:12pm ***
After putting your add-on through a few solid hours of downloads, I do have one more request. I'd love to see an option to keep the download's original server date/time, like DTA has.

BTW, I'm even more impressed with your add-on now... It is clearly the best statusbar downloader (I've used them all).

Love the custom aesthetic styling and flexible post-download command/s options, but the separate history log and ability to queue the downloads really puts this above the rest. Koodos.

The download page is slow to load, and slow to operate on. Other than that it's pretty good.

I had around a thousand items in my download page, many of them have red background. Even after clearing a lot of the items, with only 373 items in the page, the page takes around 7 seconds to load. Scrolling in the page will cause the browser to freeze for 1 or 2 seconds at a time. Deleting items take a while too.

Thank You - Additional Feature Request Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Thanks for this! But, unfortunately when you pause a download, it will start downloading from the beginning again, when you want to resume it. I was downloading a large video from Youtube and paused it short before it was completed, losing what was already downloaded.

Could you please add Resume feature like the old one.

I'm sorry, but this feature Firefox - some download it pauses, and some start from the beginning.
Unfortunately I can not do anything about it :(

Almost perfect, dude. If only uploading progress for user specific files, such as attaching files into emails, also displayed as well, it will be mostly perfect.

This is a fantastic addon, I highly recommend it!

That being said, there are a few small things that could be changed to make it cleaner, and a touch more functional:
1- the units change from kB/sec to kB/s would be nice. We know it is in seconds, the e&c are unnecessary.
2- Rounding away the decimal place would be fine too - when downloading at 100ish kB/s, ±0.01kB/s really does not matter.
3- For the summary in the statusbar, it would be nicer if it showed the total download speed, not the average value, after the percentage and time remaining. Having it show the total percent downloaded, the total time left, but the average download speed is annoying.

Seriously though, this is a fantastic addon. Thankyou for all your hard work!

This is fabulous. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. What's especially impressive is that the developer looks like he's about 15 years old. He must be a genius.

Best Download replacement but several problems in about:downloads tab:

1- Clear these file types after x second doesn't work.

2-Clear all finished confirmation is unchecked but still asks for confirmation.

3- If I press options icon in about:downloads tab then downloads list shows nothing. But if I open about:downloads in a new tab then I can see downlods list again.

Units are too long now... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hello, I too join the request to change back units to /s instead of /sec and "rounded = 157 KB/s" units, or at least to make options for that in case someone likes them this way.
As it is now, it truncates file name text too much...

Thanks
