From firefox 34 and above, you need to go in about:config, set browser.search.showOneOffButtons to false and restart the browser if you want the reset by middle-click to work again.
thanks Robert............great addon.
If you have an unwanted intrusion on your home page, new tab preferences from unruly unwanted software installs, this is the best. Resets to the default, and you can restore back to your home page(s) on startup and back to normal on new tab(s) displays. Had Conduit Search bar get installed and this was a quick and easy fix.
Does what it says. This should be default behaviour, but for now, this addon fixes the annoyance.
Just started using it, no complaints so far. I've been looking for something like this for years! I was looking for a way to right-click the search-go button to clear the field, but this works just as well.
Very useful!!! thanks. but, please,add a hotkey(like the other two, can be changed) item to do the work(Reset Engine, Clear Search Text, Focus Searchbar (Recommended)), not just by middle click actions. My English is poor, hope you can understand what I mean.
Stops working during browser section, please fix! this is a great addon
Follow up: changing the shortcut key appears to fix the bug where it stops working. the default ctr-shift-k is also used by adblock element hiding helper
Should be integrated into firefox!
Please fix the bug where it stops working after a while. Its really frustrating
Thanks a lot, simple but very effective. A must have one !
Thanks! Very useful extension
I can't believe this add-on exists. It really helps the bit of OCD in me. :P
This is just what I was looking for. Thank you!
I use the SearchWP addon which changes each word inside the searchbar into individual clickable Find buttons. As buttons, they also take up more space horizontally.
So, I kept having trouble trying to clear the searchbar (especially when I have entered a lot of words) without clicking on the buttons. With your addon, clearing the searchbar is now a snap! :)
Thanks but does currently not work with firefox 3.0.8!
Thanks to Viybel's code tweak (below) this great little add-on is back! Another useful timesaver in the ff3 toolbox.
Go to extensions\resetsearchbar@robertkatic\chrome\content\overlay.js
On line 7, replace this:
this.searchbar._engineButton.addEventListener('click', this._onClickOnButton, false);
this.searchbar.searchButton.addEventListener('click', this._onClickOnButton, false);
Thank you for the small, but useful extension.
