Thank you, foxphal! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Foxphal, praise be to you! Google Images used to play nicely with Research Word, and then Google did something to gum up the works. God knows many hours I spent trying to re-enable Google Image search in Research Word, but where I failed, you succeeded. Thanks so much for figuring it out—you've made my week!

Fix of Google Image Search Glitch Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Research Word is one of the better add-ons for firefox, however i found a small glitch w/ the Google Image Search link. I don't know what I did last time to get it to work, but the following syntax seems to work again. Many Thanks to this Creator. V

Works great with FF 31.0
- Please add a backup data to file with an export/import function like other addons. -

It works as described and highly customizable Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have a minor proposal.
The item "Custom" is actual regardless of word selection. Thatiswhy it would be great that clicking on "Research Word" will call custom dialog window and this item will appear even no word is selected.

Extremely useful! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For me this has worked fine since I installed it around Firefox 3 - now on Firefox 14. The ability to add custom search sites and search strings is fantastic..

I am moving towards Chrome now though and wish I could find something similar for Chrome. Anybody have any suggestions? I still prefer Firefox but as it gets more bloated and less responsive to user needs, and Chrome gets more extensions, I see the future as probably Chrome.

I will not update to firefox 8 without your add on, you must do it for me, for all of us.
please update ...PLEASE
this is a ***** add-on ,but without update

Great Tool, but.... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very useful tool. Works fantastically! Only problem is, when it opens in a tab, it goes to it right away. There's no way to stop it from going to the new tab right away. The firefox tabs settings (checked or unchecked) for this option has no effect on this add-on. Please provide an option in the add-on settings. Thanks!

How do I reset query to the "default" setting? I've uninstalled the add-on, and then installed it again, and still no default setting.

I don't get the complaints talking of needing LESS menu entries. You can remove all of the defaults if you wish and you can use as many or little as you want...?
Anyway I just want to reiterate: I couldn't do without this!
Once you get accustomed to using this on the sites you use most, it becomes second nature.
I have lots of search addons like the ones mentioned too but I use this one to search sites I am a member of and its a way of going there right away and also searching instantly.
Brilliant and thanks again for adding more entries!

You all might just wan to try the already built in functions of Firefox. I use AutoContext (so menu just popus up), Add to search bar (allows me to add any search functionality from a site), and Organize Searchbar (good for grouping, also make sure its enabled in autocontext). It does the same thing. Everything is pretty much automatic. AutoContext also supports other add-ons

I love this add-on and used it everyday! However, I would like to remove the extra options and limit my choice selection to the following search options:
Wikipedia
Dictionary
Youtube
Google Image
IMDB

I second Khun RDN's request: have an option to list the entries in the main context menu rather than its own sub menu.

I just want my 3 searches available from the main context menu (google, wikipedia, custom dictionary site).

Conquery used to do this well, but is unmaintained, and the version-update-hack is broken/conflicting with something.

could you expand a little more- where do the results appear? In a new tab/window? I have been looking desperately for the longest time for an extension- similar to that of the "define with..." accelerators found in Internet Explorer- where I can highlight a word & get the definition/thesaurus entry right there in a mini pop-up window- for example, the "Define with Bing" accelerator in I.E enables me to highlight a word I want defined, which, in turn, activates the little accelerator button- I click the accelerator button- context menu pops up listing accelerators (such as "Preview/Launch Link", "Conversion",,,etc), I highlight "Define w/ Bing", a little window pops up with definitions. it's great- but the closest I have come to that for Firefox are add-ons that display results in the sidebar. . .

One Of The Best Extensions Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This extension is one of the best. It is so good that it desperately needs:

1. Ability to export the settings for backup/multiple computers
2. Ability to sort the entries.

It would also be nice to:

3. have an icon against each entry listed
4. list the entries in the main context menu rather than its own sub menu.

Dear Scott A, please keep on developing this extension.

The address bar functionality is great.

imdb the matrix -> collect matrix from imdb
wi lincoln -> check wikipedia on lincoln

All customizable for the sites you usually use. Cuts out 1 to 2 steps out 30-40% of my browser usage (i.e. searching for stuff).

I reviewed this in the past but I thought I would just put out a call here to ANYONE TRIED TO ADD EXTRA SEARCH ENGINES INTO THE LIST?
I MEAN ADDED MORE THAN THE 15 THAT ARE ALLOWED?
I tried many ways of changing code and I just don't understand it enough but, I shall keep trying and will then publish a google doc and the link here for all to see, if I actually manage to work it out of course!!
I am only saying all this as it would appear the original developer has abandoned support for this now :(
Pity, he is so much better than I am!
This addon is THE BEST!

Thanks for a great add-on. I just want to come with a few suggestions for improvement. Is there no way to add more sites than the 15 already existing? I'm using some of the pre-defined and have changed the rest, but I would love to be able to add even more.

The other thing I'm missing, which I find even more important, is the possibility to export my list. I use several computers, and now I have to do the same procedure on all the computers.

Thanks again for this nifty little add-on, and hope you take my suggestions into consideration.

this is quite an impressive add-on. i hope in the coming versions, the author would implement features like enabling/disabling search engines (since i won't using all of them) or at least provide the ability to move some of them to the main context-menu next to firefox's default context-menu search.
