problems with latest version Rated 1 out of 5 stars

"all previous rips vanished in the latest update"

same here and I had tons of blocked items, fortunately I restored previous version with FEBE and won't install this new one for now

all previous rips vanished in the latest update. a modicum of testing before posting would reduce the headache to your users ...

The latest update has broken it. It won't save the settings of removed elements anymore. It's basically "remove it temporarily" now.

I've used RIP for a long time but meanwhile I clearly prefer YARIP since it works better cleaning sites - at least for me and a lot of former RIP users.

I like it Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I like the fact that I have full control over every detail that is displayed on a page or even an entire website.
This is especially true of the heavily loaded pages of the forums I frequent where it truly is worthwhile ditching all the "junk".
I did have one small problem though - my last update crashed FF. Had to completely uninstall the earlier version of RIP before coming back to install from here.
But yes - a great extension.

Superseded Rated 1 out of 5 stars

EDIT ::: oh stupid bozos ... never knew this shit would remove all my saved RIPs permanently as soon as it is upgraded ... i am removing this addon instantly and moving to something else ... dammnnn !!

It is better to use "adblock plus" and "adblock plus element hiding helper". for temporary removal of items "nuke this" and aardvark are good tools ... so i beleive this addon is not necessary.

Disappointing Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I was looking for an add-on that lets me hide page elements on specific sites by writing XPath expressions. Remove It Permanently utterly fails because: 1) it comes with a random list of predefined filters that I don't want; 2) I couldn't find an easy way to clear that list (I had to click the first RIP name, click "Remove", click next RIP name, click "Remove", ...); 3) once all RIPs are removed, there's no way to add a new one. To me, this is completely unusable. Even editing about:config entries by hand would be better.

I'd give it 5 stars if it had an undo feature for greater flexibility. Twice I went thru an RE site thinking this is cool, I've removed the ones I don't want to see over and over. Then I accidentally include a parent item and I've messed up all my pages and can't find a fix.

Espero por una opción contextual como: "remove selection" or "remove everything else"

It has a conflict with PMOG, but otherwise incredibly useful.

Great Rated 5 out of 5 stars

RIP is effective and reliable in removing unwanted content.

But if you want something more like editing the style of the web page, you may want to try Platypus: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/737

Couldn't live without it... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Couldn't live without it any more since it's far more flexible than Ad Block.

Hopefully Jerome will work on a next version since I have some glitches since upgrading to FF3.

Doesn't work... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It doesn't work with build 1.9.0.4. It removes an element from the page, but NOT permanently.
