Great work at tackling this problem and it works as described. Just a suggestion, I would like to see support a "5th" pattern namely dragging a URL to the windows desktop (or any text editor) to create a URL shortcut (or URL text string in editor) without the tracking redirect. For example I used a google searched for a blog article series consisting of 21 separate URL postings across 2 years (as there website had no proper indexing) so using the add on now I have to open 21 pages and drag URL 21 times and close 21 pages, but if I could of dragged them directly from result page it would have been the logical and faster way to do it.
Another alternative is to use https://duckduckgo.com as your search engine but that's a work around not a solution as it is not quite the same as a google search results although worth a try.
Update 22/Oct/2015: I noticed that when doing a google images search, select image - the view image button does not work. I suggest a toolbar button to toggle add on to disabled / enabled would be good idea,
Google is tricky with how they sneak in their tracking URL. This addon "catches" the tracking link and removes it AFTER you click on it. That means if you right-click and copy, you will still get the Google tracking address. To remove the tracking address, download the sister addon called "Remove Google Tracking for copy." This addon kicks in as soon as you click your link which is great because it ensures your Google pages don't slow down as a result of removing the tracking address from every ... single ... tracked ... link. This great! Thank you!
hi bro, I use "https://encrypted.google.com" to encrypt all searching under google to prevent GFW redirect searching result. but this addon was not support for "https://encrypted.google.com". Hoping to add support for encrypted google ssl search in the new version. thanks
I've been using this for a few weeks and had no problems at all. I didn't check all the tracking systems but it surely removes the nasty Google redirects: now I go directly to websites I want! I'm using Firefox 25.0 (on fedora).
Gets rid of the redirect links in your Browsing History, which is great, but doesn't copy the real URL. For example, if I right-click on a Google search result link and choose "Copy", and then paste somewhere, what gets pasted is the redirect URL, not the real URL.
i think this tool is great. i checked the surf-chronicle with and without the tool. With the tool i get from the search site instantly to the other site. Without there is an other visit on a google site in my chronicle. But i had some little problems: If i click a advertisment result (the yellow ones, first of results) then i still get on the tracking site. And once i couldnt visit the first result (just once??). I were thrown back to google home. Because of no need to restart firefox to swith the tool on/off and because i think the little problems will be solved soon, 5 stars from me ;)
Great tool. It really counters Google's tracking of each mouseclick on his search result page. I tested it for myself using "Live HTTP header" plugin and can confirm it working as declared. Mind you, many web sites novadays contain links to Google which may inflict some traffic to Google even with this tool in place, but your personal information will not be sent with it. Thank you.
