rehost image is a must-have firefox extension Rated 5 out of 5 stars

sure it's not as high on the must have list as AdBlock Lite*, RefControl, RequestPolicy, Lazarus, greasemonkey, tree style tab

but is in the second tier with such extensions as Remove Cookies from Site, Default Full Zoom, FlashBlock, really remember, tark, text link, TooManyTabs, and nzbdStatus

This extension will protect your online smilie collection from excessive borrowing. I have a master collection hosted myself on VPS, and mirrored on imageshack. But I usually create a mirror of a smiley for each forum I use. This preserves my bandwidth and gives new life to smileys

I often link to this extension on those forums where I promote certain firefox extensions... as you ought consider doing likewise. I originally used both this extension and ImageBot, but the dev of the latter slowly revealed less than awesome morality.

Wladimir Palant, author of AdBlock Plus from which AdBlock Lite is forked, has lost user trust by creating an uber white-list that overrides all blocking to "allow ads". WTH? yup, and this "optional" feature is enabled by default. evil? seems so. If Wladimir Palant wants to restore any trust he ought make the feature DISABLED by default and receive INFORMED-consent from user to enable it. Otherwise Wladimir Palant extension is now malware.

Great addon. Requests please: Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Thankyou for this addon Webdeveloper.

-- Would like to be able to upload to my own favorite upload site that is different from imgur or imageshack. With a choice to NOT signin or you can sign in. You can "Add Location" but when you click on it it will only lead to default host. How do you configure it?

-- Imageshack no longer will upload animated gifs unless you pay for premium. It will upload but only show as one static frame. So would like another 3rd default choice where the image url will not expire at all and will upload animated gifs.

Thankyou

First off, please post feature requests to the CodePlex site. It is hard to discuss them as reviews.

#1: I don't know what you're talking about. You can already upload to imgur/imageshack either anonymously or signed in. Are you talking about a different site? I can't just get it to work with any arbitrary site, do you have a specific one in mind that has a public API?

#2: I wouldn't have that kind of interface. I might have an opt-in tool bar button with conventional menu choices if I do anything. And "upload image" from there wouldn't work because you can have multiple images on a page. It only makes sense as a context menu item. Though I could see wanting easy access to history/options.

#3: It does do a status notification when the image has successfully uploaded.

#4: So.... Imgur? That's the default choice right now.

#5: In the Upload Locations tab in Options, click "Add Location". Then you will have two options to upload to.

I must reply here:
I using Status-4-Ever addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/) and in all previous versions of Rehost Image (except 1.5.3) after rehosting is done, new link info always shows in status bar. Now with 1.5.3 nothing shows after rehosting?

I just installed Status-4-Evar and with default settings the message does show after rehosting.

My thanks and two suggestions Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you for your addon!. Is very useful for me. I always used the imageshack toolbar, but the take always a lot of time to update. You know what could be very nice? The possibility to add a button in the main toolbar (or where you want) that allow you to go to the main FTP folder where you save your images or the Imageshack album where you are hosting the images. It could be configurable so you only need the code of the Imageshak account or just the FTP server name, password, etc.. and the button logs you automatically.Dont you think it could be very handy? An option to upload screenshots could be helpfull too. Something like a button where you only need use print screen and then push that button to paste the image in the clipboard into Rehost Image and upload it directly! :D

Works! And a suggestion Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works well. I'd love to see the resize option possibly linked to a defined location, so different locations would have different resizing applied. Or just put up a resize dialog when re-hosting.

Just uploaded 1.5.0 and it's in the sandbox right now. You can now set different resize settings for different locations. All the other settings are per-location too now.

1. Is it possible for me to add upload to my own favorite image site?
2. It would be nice if it ran through Tiny url aswell.

much appreciated! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I was devastated when ImageShack discontinued their right-click hosting application. But this one is even better! The automatic resizing feature is so useful, and the copy to clipboard saves that step. I would love to see a toolbar or statusbar icon available in addition to the right click access. That would make it perfect.

What functions would you want in the statusbar icon?

http://i52.tinypic.com/21dllyv.jpg what is the matter ?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.9).

There was an error uploading to Imageshack. It appears they are giving back a web page with the error instead of the XML being requested. If I get time I may see if I can detect this response and display it in a browser window.

update recoomendation. [HIGHT PRIORITY] Rated 5 out of 5 stars

i really messed myself up by downloading the update. not recommended.

3.6.2

Just tested ImageShack and several FTP sites with 3.6.2. Everything is working for me. If you've got an issue please report the details to the CodePlex site.

problem with it Rated 5 out of 5 stars

i get a 504 error now, i nnever used to, do this addon ned updating? no images wll uplaod anymore. this addon is GREAT though.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.7).

504 error

Just tested, everything is still working fine. 504 means you're having a gateway timeout. A proxy server that you're using is not responding.

Great but could be improved Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I love this add-on and use it all the time. I especially appreciate how the the url is added to the clipboard.

The only downside is that there is no way to select the "remove size/resolution bar from thumbnail" for Imageshack images. Please add this functionality!!!

Added in 1.3.8

Your feature request has been implemented. Enjoy!

Is there any chance to add to this extension uploading from HDD? Imageshack has both - from HDD and URL. This addon has only URL. Thanx.

Love it... I have been using wget and chowning over and over to populate my random images folder and now it is sooooo easy.

Had the ftp issues and the 1.3.7 version solved those as promised.
