- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18418147, 15 days agoIt's gotten worse. It still works, but it randomly stops sometimes then you only have to start over at the top of the text. It used to be able to read things to me in the background but it only does that for a few paragraphs and then stops again. Basically, it's buggy and used to work better.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18662249, a month agoThe googlecloud voices are pretty good, but they don't play well with VPN (I have to update their permissions at least once per day). So be prepared for choppy robot voices, or having to do extra steps to use the add on every day.
It would also be nice if instead of having a separate popout window, it just highlighted the word it was reading on the webpage itself, with just pause/play and skip buttons. (Even better if I could click on the page and play from there instead of having to skip a bunch of the content to find where I want to resume listening)
All of that said, the add-on does read the pages for me, and once I confirm I'm not a robot the google voices are great. - Rated 3 out of 5by Azarilh, 2 months agoGood 1: It detects text automatically.
Good 2: It highlights the sentence it's reading.
Problem 1: It's in a popup, instead of highlighting directly on the website.
Problem 2: Voices are trash for today's standards.
First problem is not a big deal, but the second problem is a deal breaker, with today's AI technology. Could it be possible to use Edge's AI voices? There's an addon that does that, but Read Aloud is a more advanced addon, really, the voices are the only real problem. - Rated 3 out of 5by PHAN NHAT THAU, 2 months ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by Stefan, 3 months agoIt's mostly great- easy to start, good customizability. Using google voices is really really nice. The only really annoying thing is I have to go into the settings to change the speed. I frequently find something going too slow or too fast for my liking, and if I could adjust that on the fly, instant 5 stars.

- Rated 3 out of 5by big boom, 7 months agoI've noticed an issue with the way the Google Translate Bengali voice feature pronounces numerical values in English. Specifically, when the Bengali voice reads out English phrases containing numbers, the pronunciation of those numerical values is inaccurate.
For example, when the Bengali voice reads '24 hours', it pronounces it as 'chabbish (২৪) hours', where 'chabbish' is the direct Bengali pronunciation of the number '24', rather than the proper English pronunciation.
This problem seems to occur consistently across all numerical values when using the Google Translate Bengali voice. I was hoping you could provide guidance on how this numerical pronunciation accuracy could be improved within the Bengali voice feature. Having the Bengali voice deliver the correct English pronunciations for numbers would greatly help me. - Rated 3 out of 5by Tom, 8 months agoSolid add-on, but the fact that you need to have an entire tab open in order to use the new piper.ttstool voices makes the add-on much less convenient

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 12148057, 9 months agoSometimes stop and pause do not work (geeks for geeks dot org) even after reloading page. Also, would be nice to change voices.
- Rated 3 out of 5by whitevamp, 10 months agoseams to be a decent app, except it will not load the extra MS voices I have installed through accessibility > narrator will only load the default 4 voice packs, the default 4 voice packs suck, thats built into winblows. would like to see it pick up these extra voice packs.
- Rated 3 out of 5by BeLuna, a year agoI wish it would have a translator build in to translate first the text to German.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Marooned, a year agoQuite handful however, keyboard shortcuts does not work at all. I've tried a few different ones and non of them activated text to speech. The only way working for me is to select the text and use context menu. Also the voices are very robotic but I assume it's just using those embedded in Windows so it's not the issue of the extension itself.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Extended Player, a year agowhy can't i tap on "Singin to use Premium Voices"? It does nothing when i tap it in the Extention's settings screen! Now i'm trying to figure out how to get it back to original out how to get back onto lame default voices.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Dollique, a year agoWorks, but only for english. When there are japanese characters (Hiragana) in the text the voice will skip them.
Also would be nice if the speed could be adjusted directly when it's reading and not only in the settings. - Rated 3 out of 5by mz2007, a year agoNie działa na androidzie firefox 124.2
Nie wiadomo jak sterować rozszerzeniem - Rated 3 out of 5by suzyjak, 2 years agoIt kept reading the same paragraph over and over again, so I tried to stop it !
I pressed stop-
Ishut down Firefox-
I closed every window-
I couldn't get it to stop-
Finally I had to restart my phone. That worked ツ - Rated 3 out of 5by Messenger, 2 years agoIt is very successful, very useful, but when I select the text and open the contex menu, the browser freezes. This problem occurred after Firefox 84 release. I hope you take this improvement seriously and fix the problem. Thanks.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 12148978, 2 years agoI've identified one significant problem using this add-on. That problem is that this add-on opens in a new window. It should simply open in a new tab, if it has to open a new anything at all. When an add-on opens a new window, if the user closes out the prior window with all his tabs, leaving the read aloud window open, it risks the danger of the user's prior session being wiped out, with all his tabs going with it, and when the user invokes Firefox again, all he gets is the window opened by read aloud. Unfortunately, my experience is that add-ons which claim to record and purportedly allow the reloading of prior sessions, meaning a set of tabs, simply do not work reliably when a new window has been opened.
