Could you please update this add-on for the latest Firefox update? I love the add-on and use it often when I get bored.
Up until now - great app. Performs as advertised, easy to use, etc., no complaints.
Last update from FF (56.0) is causing a problem, though. I tried to find a different "bug report" button somewhere...?
I was suddenly unable to watch any youtube videos - the video box was solid in green. Went through all my add-ons, disabling & re-starting FF... Random Bookmarks seems to the cause. With it disabled, and everything else enabled, youtube plays fine.
Does a good job for what it is, but it would be great if it had the option to exclude folders from the "stream". Or even better, to set up profiles for browsing bookmarks, with an individual set of bookmark folders for each. Thank you anyway.
Between this and the "Edit Bookmark" button, I can finally do something with the thousands upon thousands of random bookmarks I have saved to "Unsorted Bookmarks" and update the others I've been collecting for over a decade. Before I was overwhelmed, with this I can just casually go through it one random bookmark after another whenever I feel like it. THANKS! Now if I could find a bookmark that auto-tags all bookmarks or with a button in the edit screen then I'd be set!
This is a my favorite GTD Tool.
I'd like to be able to read random bookmarks on my mobile, too.
Works fast and well.
I only wish it had an option to filter out specific sites or folders. As it is it only seems to filter IN sites.
To the developer: would it be possible to be more flexible with the source for the random bookmark?
If the add on could show me random bookmarks from a specific folder in my bookmarks bar - rather than any bookmark from the entire bar - it would not only be fun, but also a really useful tool and five stars.
Great idea, simple and fun.
Please add the option for open each bookmark in a new tab.
As I don't have any way to contact the developer, I post that here.
It could be really great to have this addon for mobile, really. :)
Currently the API for mobile development doesn't support working with the history or the bookmarks. As soon as it is supported, we will publish a mobile version.
Really good extension! Was hoping that it existed when I searched for it :)
Thanks! I was going to write this addon - and I thought, "dang, I gotta learn how to write addons, then publish it, etc - then I thought, "WAIT A MINUTE! - somebody MUST have thought of this and done it before me!" - and I looked, and there your thing was and it does exactly what I was gonna do.
With many thousands of bookmarks - and always needing to joggle my memory on forgotten parts of a very large project - it is perfect. Thanks.
The idea behind this plugin is great. The only problem I have is that the add-on forgets about my choice of picking a random "Bookmark" instead of a random "History" entry, i.e. every time I restart Firefox, I have to reset the plugin to use "Bookmark" entries...
A great addon this is....But here are suggestions to make it even better
1. Allow selecting a folder to open bookmarks from a folder. It will be a great feature for the simple user. But for the heavy user too this addon will then be able to take advantage of the folders other addons like Too Many Tabs, or Save-to-read, or Bookstacks, or Bookmark all create when links are stored in them.
2.Add a function(a bookmarks sidebar context menu entry) to rename bookmarks by appending a certain character or letters(say RB) to the names of any bookmarks you select in the sidebar/toolbar/manager. The user will then be able to select bookmarks for random bookmarks using the text search function. Maybe add a "Revert renamed bookmarks to original name" function to allow the users to go back to the normal names of the bookmarks.
3. Allow selecting bookmarks by Tag
Hoping for something like this for a long time .Many thanks.
now it works thank you
I'm enjoying Random Bookmark very much. It's a great way to just kick back, put my feet up and see what comes up. That it also lets me get rid of ones I no longer want is a bonus. I appreciate this add-on and hope it continues to be updated etc.
I am truly grateful. The use of RandomBookmark for two days (48 hrs) makes me realize that my bookmarks are without exception a collection of abandoned, outdated, obsolete or somewhat NSFW sites.
