Lack of compatibility with Reset Kiosk addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This addon is awesome, but it has a problem with Reset Kiosk addon.

When the Reset Kiosk addon resets to home page it somehow shows empty page like it problem loading. But when I switch with alt-tab there is some kind of original window in the background. Firefox also doesn't respond to mouse or touchscreen clicks anymore.

If there was a reset kiosk function integrated to load the home page after a period of time Reset Kiosk addon wouldn't be needed at all. For occasions when a user leaves the kiosk with some page loaded it needs to reset to home page in 30 seconds or so, if this function can be implemented the problem is solved.

thanx.

I would want to extend it... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi There, first up an excellent extension and does many things that I want to implement in my dad's kiosk. Except that I would want to add a couple of more features.

* This extension still allows navigating away from browser using Alt+Tab, the idea is to prevent any user activity until in secure-mode. That means removing Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Home and windows key.

* Preventing closing the window with Alt+F4, I would want that a user can only close the window by pressing logout button on my page. That means window closes only after a voluntary successful logout.

* Disabling Windows key as well

* Disabling Ctrl+Esc

* Disabling any other feature that allows navigating away from the window.

* Having all these features in chrome.

Can you suggest me how can I implement these changes and port this application in chrome.

Great Add-on. We use it on hundreds of installations. However we have found that if the user holds the alt key and clicks on a link it is offered to save the link. Which is a security risk. Can this also be disables.

Kept me with Firefox Rated 5 out of 5 stars

we have a browser based Point of Sale system.

R-Kiosk is what makes this work.

When we consider a change to Chrome, R-Kiosk is what keeps us here

This is a great addon - I have one feature or thing Id like to be able to change. I need to allow people to go to a .jsp page and it start a java application but the addon stops this. Ive looked in the file rkioskbrowser.xul and changed settings there but I couldnt get it to work. If I could solve this I would give it 5 stars :D

edit: seems if you remove the rkioskunknownContentType.xul file, this does what I need (and lowers security provided by the add-on). Hopefully there is a better way to achieve this, but for now this now meets all my requirements. Great work Kimmo

This is a great addon, I use it all the time to display a web application on a touchscreen to the public.

I would like to know if you're planning on doing a port to Firefox 4.0?

Very useful add-on!

However I had some trouble on my multi-monitor setup at first. The graphics driver doesn't support a span mode for Windows 7, so I have to make do with an extended desktop consisting multiple monitors, where maximized windows will only maximize to one single monitor.Fortunately I've been able to address this situation in the plugin source code: in rkioskbrowser.js function RKioskdelayedStartup just after the line "window.fullscreen = true;" I added another line like this: "window.outerWidth *= 2;" because I have two monitors horizontally arranged.

It might make sense to turn this into a set of integer preferences (rkiosk.hmonitors and rkiosk.vmonitors perhaps?) so that others can make such adjustments without editing the code, and more importantly, such that the setting will stay even when the plugin is updated.

Looks great. Any way to keep the nav bar unhidden? update: found in prefs.js to add "user_pref("browser.fullscreen.autohide",false);".

Awesome addon. I also figured out how to do a silent install without all of the user interaction. Unfortunately, right now the only way to eliminate the " 1 new addon has been installed" message is to comment out the line that invokes the dialog located in the nsExtensionManager.js javascript. In FF 3.6.9 it's line 2126

Works great, no borders or toolbars, no rightclick, very locked down. Works great with Reset Kiosk. Use nomousey to remove the mouse pointer, disconnect your keyboard, and viola, free instant secure kiosk!

"1 new add-on installed" window displayed Rated 4 out of 5 stars

After installing R-kiosk, and restarting browser, the "1 new add-on installed" window is displayed. The "find updates" button on this dialog can be used to break the kiosk mode. How do I disable the "1 new add-on installed" windows. Using Iceweasel 3.5.12 on Debian. Thanks.

Very good if used right Rated 5 out of 5 stars

RE my previous post.

You may want to add this line to userContent.css:
input[type=file] { display: none !important; }

It will prevent people breaking in by opening a file upload box.
Now I worked that out, I am upgrading to a 5-star review!
