wow... simple... great

It doesn't work on Firefox 3.6.10 when you have to configure the option to use the system-proxy. Quick-Proxy doesn't know that option. Only switch between off and manual proxy configuration.
If the extension work - it is absolutly great!!! -> Go for 5 stars!!!

no proxy not working Rated 2 out of 5 stars

After I downloaded this add-on my no-proxy configuration no longer takes me to the keepalive login page, however manual proxy works fine. I tried removing this add-on but it still does not help.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04.
Can anyone please suggest any solution.
thankyou

Wonderful, should be a part of firefox proper.

v4 compat would be great... Or an alternative. Hard to upgrade w/o this.

Hopefully v4 compat will be out soon, I've had some users email in with problems they are having when trying QuickProxy on v4 (and some on 3.6.#), so hopefully I can knock these over quickly.

Please make this compatible with thunderbird, that would be awesome!

Please, disregard my previous message - IT WORKS! Nice and simple! Only one has to find that the button is in bottom right corner :-)

I love the simplicity and the single-clickness of this add-on. It is ideal for me because I use my laptop at basically 2 locations: at work (with proxy) and at home (without).

The only optimization I could possibly hope for is that quickproxy triggers a 'reload all tabs' action. Because that is what I usually need to do after I switch from one to the other.

I edited my review but it doesnt seem to work. My ´´reviewed review´´ brings better rating, simpler text, link removed; and less harsh bottom line.

I skip posting my edited review except on this, where I tried to sound humorous but it it nothing buyt sarcastic. Re-writing:

We´ve seen lots of simple and useful addons, as this one and these mentioned, and other more complex and still user friendly even ask for a five buck donate. It may just be me, but this was the first developer i´ve ever seen to suggest thirty quarters.

I set the suggested donation on this as the smallest amount that I've donated to other extension that I've found useful. Purely and simply, that's the only reason. But as other people have said, it is only a suggested value, and I think I may have received that value maybe two or three times since I put that up. Some people donate more, some donate less, and most people don't donate at all.

I don't expect money off the people that use my extension, and if nobody donates then it doesn't present a problem to me. From each donation I get a warm fuzzy feeling and a bit shaved off my hosting costs for the month (being hosted locally in Australia, I'm not paying $5 for a year like I could where quarters exist), and that is the only reason why I put the donation up.

So all in all, if you think it's too much, don't donate that much. If you want to donate $1, that's fine with me. I'm not charging you to use the extension, I'm not forcing one specific cost on you, and that's the only way I'd want it.

passarin "Should he ask $7.50 for each one of his *useful* buttons only?"

What's your problem? It's not a forced donate. There's nothing wrong with having a donate button.

this has been working pretty well for me for the first couple days. give it a try.

@passarin: I can understand it's not as full featured, but it doesn't claim to be ... this is just a button to switch your proxy on/off, it's perfect for my current needs (web-app testing/dev). I could download Toolbar proxy, but it's simply not as good for what I want. You don't have to donate $7.50 (or anything), but considering about 1/100000 users or so are going to donate anything I bet he's not going to get much either way. Over 1,000,000 people have downloaded this and 153 even bothered with a review! he's helped around a million people by sharing his code, doesn't he deserve the right to ask if people have the cash spare they give it to him?!

@episteme promeneur:
huh? you want a FIREFOX add-on to influence or bypass your SYSTEM proxy? You're surely nuts! I really hope that's not possible, if it is, I would never run that plugin! It would be a security nightmare if it were allowed to exist!

@Merwenus:
You absolute spanner! I don't mind people not knowing what they're doing but don't have a go at someone who's helping! YOU have to set up your proxy to do those things (and have an appropriately placed and configured server to forward to) you pillock! This just switches between proxy and non-proxy in a beautifully simple way. I think this should have been part of standard firefox a long time ago ... but since it's not this guy has kindly added the feature through an add-on.

Worthless does not change my IP address, and I still can't watch youtube videos with "not available in your area"

Please read the description

This extension will not change your IP address for you, it is up to you to configure the proxy settings first, as this extension doesn't know what proxy details you wish to use. After you have a proxy configured, this will do what you want.

Are you still working on this? I would like only one thing changed: if I use an automatic configuration URL, reload that URL every time I toggle from off to on. Sometimes in my corporate environment I move from one internal network to another, and the proxy is actually different... Other than that, brilliant little utility. I will be contributing momentarily.

Exceptional in its simplicity, and exactly what I was looking for. Toggles your pre-defined proxy settings on/off, and does it completely without problems. As a Privoxy user, I was looking for something to toggle content filtering at the click of a button instead of having to make my way into the network preferences, and this addon does the trick!

I love it. It's missing just one feature IMHO: there should be an option to disable proxy when switching to private mode.

Simple, works, and saves a lot of time manually changing the proxy settings. Thanks!

I like this tool, because it hasn't many features but it works without errors.
I prefere to use a proxy scrape how this one to get daily working proxys: http://infor-mation.info/en/proxy-tool/ This tool is very helpful to get proxys for this plugin.
