Blockxxx replacement ? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I thought it was a Blockxxx replacement.

That on finding certain words it will block images and star out profane words.

But Procon; blocks the webpage instead of the images on the page.

I am looking for a filter that will block only certian content.

Like images, or videos. And replace profane words.

How about adding options to block parts of the content like images and videos.

I love surfing the web. But it sometimes interferes with other things I want to do. Pro-Con Latte gives me total control to block the sites I don't need to go to. It allows me to upload, download my lists, rightclicking whitelisting and black listing. I create a scrambled password, put it on a CD, put the CD in the garage, and voila, no wasted surfing time. A+

ProCon Latte Rated 4 out of 5 stars

ebut - Regex Support

ebut, thanks for the review. However, don't forget that ProCon's wildchar is not and asterisk (*) but a dot followed by an asterisk (.*). This is because Procon supports Regular Expression syntaxes. So if in the lists you have imported you happen to have multiple '*' change them to '.*'

Addon doesn't properly work with Firefox 3.0.8 unfortunately (I couldn't configure it due to bugs in interface). Problems with uninstall either. Looks like it works though and this page is blocked by default. I had to uninstall the plugin. Very funny.

Great add-on! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've found this add-on extremely useful. Thank you for the trouble taken to get it this far!

I'm curious about something though. In my options for the ProCon Latte add-on, "Enable right-click adding to Whitelist" is unchecked, yet when I right-click in any firefox browser, I see a ProCon menu with the option to 'filter word', 'filter url' or 'add current page to whitelist'. How do I turn this feature/glitch off? I don't want the menu options in my context menu. Thanks.

I much prefer this internet filter to FoxFilter. The gray flashes that occur when travelling to and from websites is still present, but it's somehow less bothersome and easier on the eyes. Great interface, clean, password protectable, and you can also turn off the ability to disable and uninstall it. PERFECT!

Hello,
i think that this add-on is really good. Simple but work. If you combine it with PublicFox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3911) nobody without password will uninstall it.
Only one think is not the best. Building all the time the white list.
Our white list obtain:
Does anybody have some white list which could be used or can we start building something that would make it easier. Main reason for me is block porn etc.

Again Thanks for this add-on.

Nice try. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Worthless. The attempt was nice, but it doesn’t last long. It blocks many sites which are perfectly safe, like diviant art for example. Websites like jizzle.com can be accessed with a window of opportunity to click links and download videos. The biggest failure of all though is that all one has to do is select the add-on in the add-on side-bar and press delete key… this deletes/uninstalls the add-on… worthless. Porn content can also be accessed through google images...

Can I block google subdomains? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for this helpful program. I seem unable to block google subdomains by adding them to the "blocked sites" list. For instance, I've tried all of the following:

images.google.com
images
http://images.google.com
http://images.google.com/

Yet none of these block the site. Any idea why? Or suggstions that I might try?

Also, I tried to email Corvineum, but could not locate his/her email address on his/her homepage. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have limited computer savvy, but this is the simplest and most effective filter I've found. I have a problem though. My password is not working. Shall I uninstall (I haven't found where to do this though) and reinstall? Thanks.

This is an awesome filter that was much needed on my computer. The only issues I am having is that when you right click it is still giving the options to white list the page with the options in the main menu not clicked to allow such action. Is there anyway that there could be a option to not have it show in the right click menu at all instead?

Good Adjunct for School Filter Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Having noticed some holes to a DNS filtering service, I looked to see if there are any other ways to help filter content at my son's school. I have come to the conclusion that solely using Firefox with an extension like ProCon Latte, CustomizeGoogle, and Public Fox will be a good adjunct to DNS filtering.

After using it on my computer, I was wondering if the author might consider a function to one click whitelist a user's bookmarks? I noticed that several sites I have (news, forums) were filtered. I wasn't sure why (perhaps language?), but I noticed that to whitelist every site might be time consuming. If there was a way to simply click over all the bookmarks, that would be a real time saver.

Secondly, I noticed the ability to import and export settings and filters. Are there any filters people have set up for downloading?

Thanks to the author for being the "tiny particle trying to please Jesus."

Will review for help Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I think I must be missing something obvious, but I can't get the whitelist to work as I'd expect. When I click the enable whitelist checkbox, I'm able to get to any URL. When I uncheck, I can't get to any URLs. This is with secure presets selected and the block all traffic checkbox selected. I realize this isn't a review. A favorable review may follow if I can resolve what are most likely operator error issues.

Uncheck "Block All Traffic"

The \"Block All Traffic\" function stops any connection from and to the browser. The function is used when you want to block all sites except for whitelists. You\'ll need to uncheck that box (but keep the main filter ON). For more info check the F.A.Q. page.
