Just wanted to say thank you to the developer.
Interesting editor, good choice of tools. Really great great job!
Excellent. This sort of thing should be built-in!
Very easy to print what you want to from a web-page. Has a nice print preview feature.
Great addon,I love it!
Unfortunately It neither displays nor prints http://support.microsoft.com/kb/ pages correctly, even with formatting. I tried everything I could do, unsuccessfully.I'm running the ver 11.1 under FF 26 and Win7 x64 home edition. Am I missing something of important or is this is an unresolved feature yet ?Thanks in advance
140128-update: I've found some workarounds for these pages: I print them under IE or I print the selection under Firefox native printing function. That's not perfect but it's satisfactory for documentation purposes.
Due to the fact that this add-on has not to handle Firefox bugs and that it is fully responding to the expectations, I modified the star rating accordingly and also removed the '"almost" .
This is not a bug in Print Edit. Print Edit uses Firefox's standard feature to print/preview pages. Unfortunately, there are long standing bugs in Firefox's print/preview feature which means that web pages containing large tables or fieldsets are not displayed correctly.
However, Print Edit 11.2 includes a new 'Fix Pagination' feature which can fix (workaround) these issues in many cases.
Works fantastically to remove annoying, recurring elements
If you need to print a page (or save it to PDF through a PDF printer) this will help you to remove any unwanted parts of it and format the rest to suit your needs.But... READ THE USER REFERENCE!
It would be even better if it allowed to set itens width/height instead of simply set them to "auto".
And why not add a "Donate" button? This is just too useful not to let someone thank you ;)
Stopped working with latest FF update.

I was looking for an add-on with the type of functionality that this offers for someone else, but now that I've tried it, I'm keeping it.
It has a lot more features than I expected to find or thought was possible and it works very well.
It's a fine add-on and I thank you sincerely for developing and maintaining it.
This should be a native tool of firefox. Excelent!
Default English only.
Edit: 16 Nov13.
Still not working with FF 25.0.1 XP.Maybe a conflict with other addon, Maybe not.

Yes, this seemed to be brokn when FF updated to version 25. But ... I’m wrong … There are two buttons who aren’t grey, and when I click either one ( "Text Pieces" or "Web style" ) the red boxes come back, and the EDIT buttons are active again. Hey, THAT could better go on the Review page, with 5*****, of course !A GREAT extension, and either it reaired itsel, or that one click on "Text Pieces" repaired it. Either way: it sems NOT to be broken by the firefox update. HH
That is very convinient and useful add-on
I love this add-on! I use it all the time.I noticed today after I updated to Firefox 25.0 on Windows 7, it stopped working! I can't select elements to hide/delete on Web pages.
Okay, it seems to be fixed with the release of Firefox version 25.0.1 that I received today. It must've been a Firefox problem.
Great Extension. I love it!
If you print a lot from various web pages and you don't want those annoying urls, pictures, links or adds all over the place, but just what you want to print and that only, then this is what you need. I've been using it for months and it can literally do anything! I want to switch to Chrome, because it's faster than Firefox, but i can't, because of this add-on!!! I love it and i can't live without it! :/
Excellent Add-On, if you have to print it make sure you don't print all of it.
Sorry, version 10.1 does not work in this useful add-on, which I have come to appreciate very much. However version 10.0 and older do. In 10.1 neither the menue item "Print Edit" does appear in the "File" menue, nor does the "Edit" button appear in the preview window. In 10.0 both these show up as expected. I run Linux Ubuntu version 11.04 (Natty) and Firefox version 16.0.2.
This problem was caused by an error in the Swedish translation. Fixed in Version 10.2.
While it has a bit of a learning curve, once you get the hang of it this addon is a great tool for saving ink when printing from a modern many element website, it gives you surgical precision to eliminate the elements that do nothing but waste ink when printed.
Passing the mouse over an element in the "print edit" mode of this add-on causes a red box to appear temporarily around an element of the page. Once the mouse-over is interrupted, the red box disappears. I cannot make the red box stay in place, nor can I make multiple boxes. I cannot, in fact, get this add-on to do anything at all.
When you move the mouse over an element, a solid red box should appear around the element, and should stay visible unless you move the mouse again. To select an element for editing, just left-click while the solid red box is visible, and the box changes to a dotted red box. Then you can click on the 'Hide', 'Delete', 'Hide Except', 'Delete Except' or 'Format' buttons to perform the desired editing operation.

Just wanted to print selected text to printer, AT top of printed page. Selecting this from the file menu, then selecting the text (or a picture) I want, then selecting "delete except" and "unrestricted" does this. Why isn't something like this (print selection) built into Firefox natively, I seem to recall it was back in version 1.5 or so, then things went awry, and instead of adding back in standard features... no further comment.
It does the Delete parts very well, no complaints there. However editing is restricted to margins only. Forget moving divs, there's not even a way to get text to fit width, similar to the Readability or Readable bookmarklets. Also if you are viewing No Page Style, you can print that with Firefox, but you go on to Print Edit and it's back to the original page style. Basically, it does the easy things and it does them well. But a true editor for print would do more.
Print Edit is primarily intended to save printer paper/ink by removing unwanted content, hence the features are focused on deleting and formatting content, rather than more extensive web page editing. However, editing is not restricted to margins only, since the 'Format' command allows a wide range of styling to be applied.
Print Edit does not support moving div's (for example, using cut-and-paste), but it does allow text to be formatted so that it fits the page width in most cases (although at present, not every case).
It is not possible to retain the 'No Page Style' viewing mode when using Print Edit, because the underlying mechanism that Print Edit employs to perform its operations is the application of CSS styles.
Version 10.1 simplifies the menu options for the 'Delete Except' command and significantly enhance the capabilities of the 'Format' command:
- the application of format properties can now be restricted to specific content types (divs, spans, headings, etc).
- the 'width:auto' and 'height:auto' format properties now remove min/max width and height constraints (which allows text to be fitted to page width in all cases).
- the margin and padding properties have been split into separate horizontal and vertical values.
- the margin, padding, font family, font style, line height and list style properties all have a wider range of values.
To fit text to page width, select the whole page, then click on 'Format', then click on 'Fit to Content', then tick 'Apply to sub-elements', and then click on 'OK'.
UPDATE: Version 15.0 now allows existing text to be edited and new text to be inserted into web pages.
For those who missed it:
Since version 8.8, the "Delete Except" button now has a drop-down menu with two menu items, so that the user can choose either mode of operation:
- "Restricted" retains the position and size restrictions (formatting) from higher level elements (as in Version 8.6).
- "Unrestricted" removes the position and size restrictions (formatting) from higher level elements (as in Version 8.7). This is similar to the aardvark bookmarklet's de-widthify feature.
It would nice to be able to set "Unrestricted" by default in the settings, this would save one click. :)
Thanks for the great add-on!
And now...for something completely different: 'Help' text included on the Add-On page in your browser. Everything you need to know. You're a Wizard a True Star for THAT!
oh yeah, GREAT App
My God if only i would have find this add-on before...
It's working perfectly and it's awesome. Just take 10 min time to read the explanations and / or experiment a bit and it will prevent you to waste tons of paper for rubbish.
Thanks so much to the dev for this wonderful tool !!!
An excellent add on in every respect!! I posted a quibble about getting a copy saved on computer and now have sorted that out with your advice given further down the page of reviews which I hadn't seen originally.
