Fantastic. I've been needing an extension like this for years. My profile is so messy from the 100+ extensions I've used over the years, but my setup is so specific, recreating the profile would be like reinstalling Windows. This will help me much in the interim.

(BTW - It's probably a good idea to consider renaming this extension to reflect the integration of eCleaner, especially since the original eCleaner add-on is no longer maintained)

Addon does not work in FF40, not being updated by developer :( Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Preferences Monitor just does not work at all in FF40 and has not been updated since March 21, 2014! When it was updated then, FF version was much lower than now and many changes to FF have occurred. My favorite part of Preferences Monitor is eCleaner, but is is not good anymore do to being out of date and wish the two apps where updated. eCleaner was great at one time as a separate app and is still available as such but it has not been updated since September 6 of 2011! PLEASE update developer or is this app dead?

If it wasn't updated since a year ago was because it's working properly and therefore it's in an stable state, it had no bugs or nobody reported any in that time.

I've just upgraded to Firefox 40 and i can see it's still working, at least in the console i can see preferences changes being reported.

So... specifically what problem are you experiencing? as you can understand just saying "does not work" is not very helpful...

I need eCleaner, for Preferences Monitor I will try it later.

not happy about bundled 3rd party ext. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

eCleaner should not be included by default - at the very least it should be an optional install

luckily it looks like a benign extension, otherwise i'd really be po'd :)

liking PM though - good work

FYI, eCleaner is NOT a 3rd party extension, I'm the creator and was added so that they both work and coexist together, without PrefMon getting crazy on the changes made by eCleaner, simple as that.

Please fix LocalStore option in eCleaner Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hello Diego,

Would you please be kind enough to fix the LocalStore option in eCleaner it has not worked for quite a while now.

Other than the LocalStore problem, great add-on.

monitoring changes works , but launching ecleaner crashes ff 35.01

eCleaner works fine here on Firefox 35.0.1 + Win7 32-bits. I suspect that might be a weird conflict with another add-on you've installed.

Half works and not between restart or clean exit and start. Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I wrote a review before but wasn't able to test further.
I'm using 3.6.1 under Linux and Windows.
I run it globally on both out of /usr/share/mozilla/{moz ext id}/{plugin id}/ and the respective path in %ProgramFiles%\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions.
I can allow things that Preference Monitor notifies me about and it adds them to it's allow list but after a restart it will re-prompt me and add additional entries to it's allow/white-list that already exist.
It does not seem to use the white-list properly. It adds to it but seems to maintain state separate from it.
I experienced this with Firefox 17, 24, 28, and 31. I have not upgraded beyond 31 because of changes I don't like and issues not resolved by the classic look add-on like security and anti-fingerprinting extensions no longer working.
It would be great to see an update that does not require the latest Firefox but which is forward compatible from 17 which keeps state in sync with the white-list properly between restarts, clean exits and crashes.

Salve, ottimo add, volevo chiedere se era possibile cambiare l'url di ricerca di eCleaner in questo modo "extensions.stringa site:https://addons.mozilla.org"

Just What I Needed Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I was struggling a bit using the original eCleaner to try and identify and remove unwanted extension entries from my Firefox profile, but now I can just click on something and search for it instantly.

Revert Security changes? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I understand the other revert entries, but not this: turn_off_all_security_so_that_viruses_can_take_over_this_computer
What are we supposed to do with that? Are we supposed to leave it as is? Looks like it should just end with "security\." so all changes to those settings would be reverted, or am I missing something?

Thanks for your work Diego.
I would like to see a feature in the part "eCleaner":

Show only entries of inactive/not installed extensions.

Unfortunately Firefox does not offer an option to delete all entries of an extension, when you delete it.

prefs.js grows and grows.

Thanks.

Nice. Does what it promises.

Would be nice if the author could post on this page the relevant information for removing conflict with User Agent Changer (and I mean the precise info, we are not all as good at this sort of thing).

And yes, I do read some of the previous reviews when writing my own and sometimes, if I agree with them, I will repeat their words. I am sure I am not the only one. If this offends the author, I apologize.

Either way, you have an excellent add-on.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5.1-signed).

No offense. Well, if the instructions here on the AMO listing page does not help enough (I understand regular expressions isn't something everybody is familiar with), feel free to file issues on the Github tracker and i'll try to help, no problem.

Good. But needs more flexibility (a one-click way of adding exceptions to monitoring). The cleaner is good. Sadly, no way of getting its own button easily onto the toolbar. Recommended!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5.1-signed).

Thanks for your feedback, you are indeed right and therefore such a one-click solution has been implemented, feel free to help betatesting it by installing the new version from the Github repository at https://github.com/diegocr/PrefMon - which you can do by using the GitHub Extension Installer Add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/github-extension-installer/

Kind Regards.

Just the thing for the security obsessed. Should have a one-click option for saving exceptions, though.

Great add-on, but changes to print.tmp.* need to be whitelisted. Even after including .*:print\.tmp\..* in the whitelist, Preferences Monitor continues to create multiple alerts when printing.

The developer says that '.*' can't be used, even though it's a valid regex. Since 'print.tmp.*' is changed "by" the site you're attempting to print content from, it will have to be whitelisted in the extension itself. This happens regardless of whether the user invokes the print dialog manually or presses a "print" button on a page.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5.1-signed).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

.*: is not valid, it have to be the (case-sensitive) name of who is changing the pref.
