Farewell? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It sure is (well, WAS) a great idea. Looks like it's no longer supported; even the developer's blog link no longer works. Maybe somebody will pick up where this leaves off?

Heuristic Assistance Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The team at pluribo are definitely onto something here. With all the information coming at us now and in the near future, we are going to heuristic help we can get!

There is a brief video overview of pluribo here:

Nice idea but only works for electronics and a few other minor categories. What about BOOKS?

Great summarizing feature and a time-saver. I didn't find any serious issues with page loading, as you can still browse while the reviews are being searched. The display is unobtrusive and can be closed.

I gave this 3 stars because I think this plugin has potential. If that potential is never realised then bump it down to 2 or 1 stars.
There are only two problems I have with this but they're big ones.
1. It doesn't work on most pages.
2. It runs all the time on Amazon and significantly slows down page-load.

What this could do with is a button, either on the toolbar or inserted somewhere in the page, which enables Pluribo to run it's scan. Having it scan every page, even when it's not a review page (listing searches took ages because of Pluribo) was not helpful and, although I'll be keeping this installed in hope of future updates I will be keeping it disabled until it is more than a proof of concept.

Uncanny -- and super useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I admit to being a compulsive researcher. I'd read 100s of Amazon and other reviews before making a big purchase decision. This tool will help me figure out when to dive in and do more research -- or just trust the wisdom of the crowds.

Totally reminds me of seeing Oracle ConText for the first time -- an artificially intelligent text summarizer that would digest arbitrary text documents and spit out summaries as long as you wanted them (using a cool on-screen slider). This is even more useful.

This is an unbelievable time saver! Rather than having to read a page full of rambling reviews, I love being able to just read a short summary. This really changes the way I use Amazon. One quibble: If the developers could add support for book reviews, that would really make my day!

Interesting first version Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It's a shame that Pluribo only works on Electronic items right now, because its summaries are really good. Whenever I took the time to read all the reviews I had to agree that the Pluribo had summarized the overall vibe. The UI needs a little work (It took me a while to understand what "relative to similar items" meant). It's really only useful right now if you check out a lot of electronics on Amazon, but I look forward to when they start covering more items and other services.
