Update to FF 23 removes PlainOldFavorites from the Navigation Toolbar. However, PlainOldFavorites appears at the right end of the Bookmark Toolbar, replacing the FF Bookmarks.
Things that make you say hmmm.
Hi dear master,
In current version, I can't open fav in new tab with left click, only middle click can make it open in new tab. Could you pls consider openning new tab with default left click?
I am refering PlainOldFav, not FF own fav. In fact I can open FF own fav in new tab with left click.
Thank you in advance Sir!
Very cool and useful tool!
But there is a small error:
Long links (bigger than 263 character such as deeplinks) will be cut.
This error is in V1.2 and V1.3
for the update.
It works wonderfull :)
In Win8, Favorites within Firefox menu always show in alphabetical order, ignoring the order set in Windows. I have the "Sort by Name" option UNchecked.
When I click "Organize Favorites" in Firefox, the order is correct - but then after closing that window, the Favorites menu in Firefox still shows in alphabetical order.
This is NOT an issue on my Win7 machine, only on the Win8 machine. I've uninstalled both Firefox and this addon multiple times, but the behavior does not change.
Can you upgrade the plugin to support customized folder location? I want to use that in linux too. I think bookmark in a filesystem is really better than the original bookmark comes with firefox.I've been using this plugin for a long time. And now I think it is time to upgrade it to a new level.
I dont know how to write/debug a plugin. If I know, I may write the plugin myself.Or can you give me some tutorial about how to write plugin?
now its Working Perfect
New version works again - I tried looking for this yesterday before writing a review but it wasn't available, at least not from Mozilla Add-Ons page. Thanks for the update.
I've installed new version PlainOldFavorites 1.3 it´s working perfectly now. tks a lot.
V.1.3 is working with F22
please try the latest version here http://www.iosart.com/firefox/plainoldfavorites/
I tried the fix Francisco Blanchart mentioned, but no go. The word "Favorites" appeared in the menu, but there were no items in it when clicked. When working this was a great add-on!
dnr_ron´s workaround is good, but it doesn´t let you add new favorites.
I think the solution is simply getting inside the extension´s file and tweaking the Firefox version it is for. I used to know how to do this, but loooooong ago. Maybe somebody has a straight knowledge of how to get inside the file and change that. Seems too easy to believe, I know, but it used to work.
Please someone try it. Cheers!!
Very handy but breaks with every new version of Firefox. Not worth installing.
Once again my favorite and most used / needed extension, "plain old favorites", is out of date with the new version of Firefox F22!!! Favorites is on the menu but there are no favorites and add does not work at all!! How many times and how many complaints must the Mozilla people have to see, before they get a clue and make sure that some of these really desired and heavily used add-ons should either become a part of Firefox or that they should coordinate before releasing the next version. As is, Mozilla is starting to look just like Microsoft, whose testing stage is usually the first official release. Glad I am a Unix guy at work but will not upgrade to F22 there either because - I NEED MY FAVORITES, not a version for IE and and another (bookmarks) version for Firefox. Come on guys start working together please.
Incompatible with Fx 24?
My most valuable Add-on. Unfortunately, it seems to be easily broken with changes in FF. Fortunately the author updates it fairly quickly, so I always wait a few days before updating. Still, I am starting to look at other alternatives which while less convenient are more robust.
I really like this addon as I still have to use IE and this way I can sync my bookmarks, but recently after a FF update it stopped working...I have to figure out something else now...
Excellent but needs Firefox 20 compatibility update.
Wow. Such a simple thing but such big results. When my hard drive started to die, my company only copies off certain files. Because I hadn't exported my bookmarks for a while, I lost them. Only I.E. favorites were copied. Now I only use IE favorites in Firefox. Thank you soooooo much for this.
It works now mit FF 17 - Thx u
I love it!
T H A N K Y O U Manitu! I went to FF16 with your post. FF16 and POF working. SUPER!
I just updated to FF16 and the addon became incompatible.
I tried the version 1.2.1 from this link:
it is working fine, PlainOldFavorites is working in FF16 with this. cool!
@Alex: Please can you bring a new version for FF16?
Thanks in advance!
Please make this compatible with FF 16. This is a great add on.
Loved using POF with 32-bit Firefox! For the past several months I have been using Waterfox (64-bit implementation of FF) on 64-bit Windows 7. Attempted to use POF with Waterfox but it does not work. Bookmarks do not load below "Add to Favorites..." and "Organize Favorites..." The current version of Waterfox is 14.0.1.
