I like it.
The only thing I'd like to add is a "default action" in settings - open in new tab.
Almost exactly what I was looking for. I said almost because sometimes I like to visit the homepage before going into the specific page displayed as plain text. For instance, how can I open "abc.com" from the text "abc.com/news"? For this purpose selecting the url and then opening it would have been a good additional feature.
Thank you!! :)
After a mountain of efforts to find a decent simple "send seclect text to a text file' we now have a result, with the Options of setting the Save to folder plus append and otehr functions this is now in my Top 10 list of Essentails Firefox add-ons.

One of the BEST and most-used add-on in Firefox! I have had this for a long time now and can't live without it! Thanks Ted!!
great, saves a lot of trouble from highlighting texts and copy and paste. thanks
Great helper when you're coming from Opera. Seems to work not under FF3.0, but the addon "Fetch Text URL" does.
great addon, i love it!
but in ffox 3.0.1 i can't open the options to make any adjustment.
please update this addon, i appreciate it.
Great little extension, that's what I've been missing for quick opening of URLs.
Requires double click on Mac to function.
After testing several similar extensions I found this one to be easiest and snappiest to use.
No text selecting needed and new tab opens with middle-click or ctrl-left-click.
This should be a default feature in Firefox.
Requires two right clicks for the proper context menu to appear.
I like this add-on as you do not have to select the entire text. Clicking on it is enough.
Strangely enough, I had to reinstall this add-on after upgrading to FF3 although I already had version 0.3. I just refused to update automatically.
It's ok, but I prefer the 'Text Link' add-on from SHIMODA Hiroshi, which works also for URLs that have no space at left and right of text.
I use this addon, but double clicking a url that doesn't have a space on either side selects the additional text, so I have to do the selection manually and use the context menu to open. Still better than dragging it to the address bar, and I like the options to use a new window or the existing one.
Does what it claims to do and keeps it lean 4kb unlike linkification which is overkill and causes noticeable slowdown. This extension on the other hand has none, it's a zero on the slowdown scale.
I always add this extension after installing FF.
It does what it says. Also, if you highlight part of the url and then select the action, it will open the part you have highlighted.
I like the simplicity and small size of the extension. I would like to suggest you emphasize a point you make in your instructions about opening up the link in a New Tab. You say "You can control + click or middle click the menu item". That is quite clear, and yet like an idiot, I tried control + click on the url text, then clicked the menu item. For the sake of you future users, please re-emphasize in your instructions that the method of clicking happens WITHIN the menu (the menu which pops up after the Right-Click on the text), not on the text itself. Thanks.
Super ! There seems to be an addon for everything i think of =)
So many plain text links , saves so much time !!!!
Suggestion: Can u change it to open in new tab ? Should be easy but very helpfull !
tried version 0.3. I liked it, but only one more feature which will make this extension must have: ability to open multiple links in new tabs.
