Pimpoflage does not work correctly in Firefox 3.6.16 and 3.6.17. If you leave Firefox running and hibernate, when you resume Firefox will not respond and has to be closed. I believe it may also be responsible for a problem with themes in Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 Beta where everything above the address bar appears black. This extension has not been updated since October 2009. It is too old now and I do not recommend it.
Doesn't keep when using Firefox portable v3.6.16. It shows in Addon list but must be updated, then restart Firefox. Works fine after that, but not after a reboot. Otherwise a great addon, since we can't move the addon buttons anywhere else.
You ought to update it for Fx 4!
I like it a lot. It gives me the clean screen space I need.
I would like to ask for a new feature. Could you add the possibility to show Top Bar when:
* page is loading (link clicked) - I use the Fission add-on instead of the status bar.
* new tab is added (eg by Ctrl-T). I would like to see the address bar and start typing.
* whenever there is any activity at the address bar (eg mouse hoovering over a link). Fission add-on.
and it would be perfect if the above where individually customizable...
Thank you so much.
Doesn't hide tabbar for me. The menu/navigation bars doesn't autohide until you click in the page area when the tabbar is open. Ctrl+Shift default toogle shortcut, doesn't work for me. The status bar funcionality is a trimmed off code from Autohide Status bar.
I really appreciate this add-on! Combined with Hide Title Bar Plus, I finally have the maximized screen real estate I miss from IE fullscreen. I really wish the name was a little more obvious, to encourage more users. I had been searching for something like this regularly for years. I would have never found this had I not stumbled upon it while searching for something else.
It works for status bar, but not for the navigation bar. Finally, I found an add -on to hide them, but-disappointingly-it doesn't work. The too-lip doesn't provide a quick launch. I won't uninstall it because it does something. Firefox should provide a forun (blog) to discuss problems with add-ons. Maybe, they do?
hey again, I just want to say something
I'm using pimpoflage and it works great, but I'm also using a add on that makes firefox transparent, it's called "All-Glass Firefox mod, based on Glasser", but the problem with this is that when the status bar is hidden and I refresh the page or go to a new one the status bar becomes black, but if I lock the status bar so it never hides, and then refresh the page or go to a new one the status bar stays transparent, I would really appreciate if you could make a update that would fix this problem, I don't know if it's possible but I thought you maybe could give it a shot, thanks in advance.
I love it, but I wish an option to show status bar when I am downloading a file. With this, 5 stars to me.
This add-on would get 5 stars if the top bar would show automatically and the focus would go to the Awesome Bar when pressing Cmd+L. Instead, there is an ugly popup box that appears...
thanks you soooooo much! It works great!
I would like to hide my bookmarks, toomanytabs and file/edit/view/etc toolbars. I want to show only the navigation one.
Could you add an option to hide certain toolbars?
Also I have the glitch thing stated. Is there any way for you to add in a feature for calculating the sizes? I do know how to do it manually.
It's a good addon. When using it, I can also use KDE(linux desktop) and can remove the windows boarders. my firefox looks like it's in fullscreen, but acts like a windowed program. It's great.
Not sure if I will stick to it because I use the navigation bar so often and would really like only it showing.
This addon somehow breaks "open in new tab" features on firefox (using Tabmixplus). Dove into the settings to see if I could fix, but no dice. Otherwise seems decent, but disabling for now.
how about having auto show option for when I start a new speeddial with CRL+T ? I mean like posting unhypertexted links(because Jdownloader is not always the only option)
Brilliant addon, takes a little to get used to, otherwise, nothing like looking at a bigger picture (screen), great stuff.
This has become my single most important add-on. I am surprised more foxers are not using it...It must be the World's best kept secret!!! My biggest concern is that it does not work on ff 3.6.x...
Wonderful. I just migrated from Maxthon browser to Firefox and I really missed the autohide feature I was so used. Now I'm happy again. ;)
i love this addon but it's getting annoying when it use together with echofon :(
Good, but not what I was looking for.
I wanted the toolbars to disappear when the window height reached a threshold. If I have a lot of space on my screen I don't mind toolbars, it's when I use a small window that space needs to be freed up.
I hope you will implement this!
I'll have to add that feature to the next version. Thank you
I am not on my own PC so I have yet to try this out! But it sounds like the kind of feature I have been looking for, that is a lightweight application that automatically hides your toolbars until you move your mouse over them?
Hope its true!
I love this addon. However I have couple of suggestions:
1. Your addon is very hard to find. I was looking with keyword like hide toolbar, autohide and such and it took ages to find this. Pimpoflage is also a name that doesn't describe the use of the program well.
2. I'm hoping that the autohide function could work as the windows taskbars autohide one, "on top" of everything else. I'm pressing wrong buttons all the time because the browser window scales along with the firefox top bar jumping up and down. Could it work "on top" of browser window so that it wouldn't scale all the time.
3. The autohide function doesn't work correctly. It hides the topbar only after i click a mouse button in the browser window. It does't hide automatically.
great for smaller screens and notebooks. keyboard shortcuts. very customizable
The status bar hides away just fine, and reappears whenever I mouse-over a link. But it never reappears whenever a page is loading, giving me no indication if the page is indeed loading, unless I mouse-over near the bottom-edge of the browser to force the status bar to reappear and show connection activity.
Just another observation with respect to the statusbar. Without being able to have the statusbar on at all times, the only way to see it at all after the page has loaded is to set it to appear when hovering over links. However, every time you hover over a link, even if you are just scrolling past it, there is a hesitation while scrolling when the statusbar appears and hides while you are scrolling past links. You can also make the statusbar appear by hovering over the bottom of the FF window, but if you have set your Windows taskbar to autohide, you can't really make the statusbar appear since your Windows taskbar will appear before the FF statusbar appears if you move your cursor to the bottom of the FF window. This extension would just be a lot less problematic if it was able to keep the statusbar visible at all times.
The problem with the bookmarks toolbar appears now to be one of focus. You don't have to click on a link to make the navigation bar autohide after accessing a bookmark from the bookmark toolbar. Bringing a tab into focus by left-clicking on any open area on a webpage in any tab will cause the authoide function to reengage. This is not a big deal and most likely is not the fault of the Pimpoflage extension.
Firstly I would like to say thank you for testing out my add-on. I will Implement an option to have the status bar always show in the next version.
Second I will try to explain the various uses for the options in the options menu better to you and other users.
-Since not all top bars are of equal sizes, one of the most important settings to calibrate is the top bar hide threshold. If this number is off, selecting tabs or clicking links on the top of the page can become frustrating. as the auto hide function may think it is supposed to go off at bad times. I have uploaded a pic with a pixel ruler to show the approximate correct measurement for that threshold on the add-on screenshots list. the top bar hide time navigation bar setting calibrates the amount of time the mouse pointer will need to be out of the threshold before hiding again. this prevents jittery movements from the auto hide function.
The top bar sensitivity defines the number of pixels from the top of the page ( starts at 0 on the pixel ruler screenshot) that will in effect show the top bar when hidden.
The delay is the amount of time required for the mouse to be there before it shows as well. This is also an effect which reduces jittery screens.
These options apply likewise to the status bar. Try increasing the sensitivity of the bottom bar from 5 to 20-25 px, I've found it to be easier to use when auto-hiding the windows start bar dually. also you can reduce the delay, bringing this number to zero however will make it difficult to click on links that are close to the bottom of a page. Also holding alt +ctrl will show top and bottom bars. Hope this helps and please email if you have any other concerns, they are much appreciated
