Keeps on going Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This addon is still going strong in FF 26. Been using it for quite a while and I agree with the previous poster, it remains the easiest and most straightforward way to manage whether sites accept cookies or not.

Still the Best Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is the best cookie handling extension -- has been for years -- and it DOES work with FF15 (that is, the updated Permit Cookies at

Many thanks, vrillusions, for keeping it going. But why not make it more available by posting here as a regular extension? Maybe call it "Permit-Cookies" (with hyphen for easy find by search engines), "Permit Cookies 2" or such. The version on github is clean, but many have an aversion to downloading from non-Mozilla sites.

Hopefully a future FF update won't break this so we can use it for years to come.

Simple & perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Perfect add-on if you you wish to block ALL cookies, except for websites you choose to trust. And even then you can choose to permanently allow the cookie, or just for this session (it will be automatically deleted when you close FF if I'm not mistaken).
Glad to have found a version that my FF12 likes, at

The icon for this add-on sits in the add-on bar right after installing, without the need for an extra add-on. I´m very happy with this add-on!

How to use w/FF12 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

After I updated to FF12 (admittedly I was back on version 3.something... heh), I was dismayed to find Permit Cookies was incompatible. I tried circumventing the problem by upping the version # in install.rdf, but it the lack of a status bar is what was preventing it from being displayed.

On a whim, I installed Status-4-Evar, and lo and behold, Permit Cookies now show up again and works!

Basically: Status-4-Evar + "modified" Permit Cookies forced install from file = happy, selective-cookie-blockin' user.

I've semi taken over updates Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Like others I found this to be an extremely useful addon for my cookie managment workflow. So I've taken control over updating it for new versions.

Search for "permit-cookies" on github and my project (under vrillusions) is the only project available. Or the direct link to the downloads page:

I only plan to bump the maxversion and make any necessary changes from one version to the next without adding any additional functionality since I like the "do one thing and do it well" approach.

Simple and effective Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Since FF2 until FF7.01 I'm using this AddOn.

With minimalistic features, it does exactly what it does. Sadly, the compatibility has to be forced by patching the install file. Last release is from 2005, so surely discontinued.

Does someone know a similar AddOn which has not to be patched at every new FF release?

Very nice, just right! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is simple and complete. Functional for a geek that wants his browser to do his bidding only! I have been using this since Ver 3, and you can make it work all the way up to with Ver 6.02 without any issues. I have submitted feedback with "Add-on Compatibility Reporter" in the hope that the dev will update it so that it will be accepted by default. Looks like more tricks will be needed in Ver 7.0 to get this addon to work. Please update this soon. Thank you!

The author doesn't seem to care to update this very useful extension. Why doesn't anyone take this extension over?

I tried to contact the author through his email form on his webpage but it refused to work. Kept telling me that I hadn't filled out all the info fields.

love this Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This has been a staple of my browsing for years. It still works of firefox 4, but I wish I could move the icon to the toolbar. I use firefox ui fix addon to place it somewhere else, but I wish I could use something else.

Works with FF4 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works with Firefox 4 b8 when compatibility is forced. Invaluable addon.

This is/was an awesome addon, but since it's not updated for 3.5 I've gone to find another one. If interested, check out 'cookie button in the status bar'

I wonder why this functionality is still not implemented in firefox. One of the most important extensions, since it enables basic cookie handling.

Though it's simple, I never missed anything.
Works perfectly with ff3.5 if you take the latest version from the developers homepage.

I love this little add-on. Makes things so much easier. Any plans to update it for FF 3.5?

For those who want this updated, go to the homepage and it has been updated. Or you can use a ZIP program and go to the install.rdf file and open in notepad, and change the MAX Version to 3.0.3.

I *love* this addon. I had my cookies set to "ask me every time," but I'd often have to go back and dig through the Exceptions list to re-allow sites that I'd denied, only to later find that I needed to allow cookies for some reason later. With this addon I can toggle permissions right from the browser easily and quickly. Definitely reccomended! Thanks!

This is one of the most important ff add-ons. It gives the user full real-time control over cookies, something sadly lacking from ff. PLEASE UPDATE FOR FF 3.0.1!!!
