It used to be an excellent add-on but it no longer works with Firefox 19 and further versions. I hope author will fix it soon, but at this right moment it is a not-recommended add-on.
This add-on used to work VERY well and proved invaluable ... but under later FF versions (in my case 20.0.1) the download and view buttons on the popup no longer do anything (the file is never downloaded). BTW the user forum is no longer accessible now either (at least not to me).
which works in FF20+?
I've loved this add-on, but it hasn't been working correctly with the newer updates of Firefox and Acrobat. Nothing happens when I click download. When I click open, it opens in the wrong viewer.
I had to disable this extension because I was neither able to download nor view any pdfs anymore.
This is a pity as the default behaviour for pdf is to open it in the browser which for me totally sucks.
Had to uninstall.disable so I could actually download/view pdf files. This extension sucks.
It would be nice if it actually was up to date and worked. I tried to install it and Firefox was smart enough to say it wouldn't work with V19 of Firefox. I wonder if PDF Download would have been this smart. Anyway, it would be nice if Nitro could be as up to date on their Firefox Plugins as they are hyping their software updates.
Like It .
Please help...how can I unistall this? I can't find it not in "Programm Files" nor in Mozilla Plugins nor anywhere. I am about to uninstall Mozilla and Acrobat Reader, but I guess that will be another solution. This programm brought the mess, it isn't only that it doesn't work, but I can't uninstall it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Txs.
Dear Awesome Nitro Team,
I'm really addressing our entire community here, but I want to start out with a very positive and encouraging thank you to those who truly deserve it here.
I am so very grateful for the incredible generosity and many hours of hard work that the Nitro team put into this add-on over the years. It truly is a terrible penalty to my productivity now that the Mozilla team's broken this add-on (since FF.v17).
CAN WE GET AN UPDATE? It would be really awesome if Nitro could possibly post an update here as to whether there is a chance this will be fixed in the future, or if we should consider this add-on no longer supported.
I don't think there are any alternative add-ons available right now that perform this very useful function, but I sure wish there was. If anyone has any ideas, can you please email me at Paul at PaulJRichardson[dot]com? It would be very helpful to me, and bring back some good karma to you, I'm sure ;-)
Have a great day!,
When I select the "Open PDF" NOTHING happens.
The option "When opening PDF" / "Use this viewer" is simply not honoured.
I've used this option as the "Use OS default viewer" did NOT work as well ...
This is the solution if you want to view online PDF documents in Firefox 19.0. Installation is a breeze. Firefox 19.0 has an internal PDF document viewer that is extremely SLOW.. The add-on speeds up Firefox 19.0. Will try other options in the future.
When installed on Firefox 18.0, this add-on resulted in PDF files being completely inaccessible. It did not download the files, and it did not display them.
Donesn't work from version FF 18.
Finger weg Leute!
You have to go back to version 17.0 of Firefox to have this plug in work anymore.Something in 18 broke it. Still doesn't work in 19.0 beta. The only work around I found is to download the pdf file and then right click on the file name from the download history and select open and the file will open in Acrobat reader. Used to be a 5 star now 1 star. Wish the developer would come back and see if it can be updated to work again.
This add-on was recommended by my employer, so it must've worked well for others in the past, but when I installed it yesterday is broke Firefox's ability to handle PDFs altogether. I couldn't download or view any PDFs until I went back in and deleted it.
You could not download a copy, the web page e-mail it to you.. which takes a while >_<;
I used to love this extension and was using for so many years. But, over the last two versions of FF, the extension stopped working. Its sad that the author is so apathetic to the plea of many of the loyal users like me for a fix. A message on twitter was also in vain. Uninstalling was the last resort :(
Hasn't worked at all for the last couple of versions of Firefox. Waste of time, author obviously uninterested.
I've used this for a LONG time and could never figure out why my banks statements would not open online. This addon is the culprit. I disabled it and viewing my statements now works properly. Sure hope there is a fix for this in the near future as this is one of my favorite addons and I would hate to toss it.
Sorry, but all it does is download, instead of opening in FF. Had to uninstall.
I like this add-on and used it for years, but unfortunately with Firefox 18, it stopped working properly.
While the "open" button still works, the "download" button stopped working. All I get is the dialog to select the save folder, but then an error pops up saying the download failed. After that, another (Firefox) Download dialog (Run/Save choice dialog) opens, but even if I select to download the file in this dialog again, the file is not saved.
A fix would be greatly appreciated!
The "Open PDF"-feature of this add-on doesn't work anymore for FF18 on XP Home SP3.
Instead, clicking that button will lead only to an empty new tab.
Please have a look at this issue!
In case you want to reproduce it:
I 've set the current "SumatraPDF" to be my default PDF reader in FF18.
I did that in the settings of this add-on.
In the "Applications" section of the FF settings, I've set "Adobe Acrobat Documents" to "Always ask".
My default PDF reader for the whole system is still the "Adobe Reader".
These are the settings that used to work fine before FF18 was released.
I've noticed a number of reviews reporting that the product stopped working after a while. I happened to look at the options for this add-on and noticed that under the "Opening PDF" tab the path to Adobe Reader was no longer valid, because I was now using Reader XI and the path still specified a different directory that was used in earlier versions. I changed the path to the new location for AcroRd32.exe and the problem was solved. The designers of this add-on should provide a method to change the directory automatically, or at least provide an error message to explain the issue when it occurs...which is why I give it only 3 stars.
