Why was PatentlyUseful(tm) Patent Number Search Engine created?
I wanted a quick way to be able to look at a patent at the USPTO's website. A former colleague said to me after using my PatentlyUseful for the USPTO add-on, ; "Wouldn't be cool if you could just type "pat #######" in the URL bar and pull up the patent?"
I agreed and then learned that through the management function of the search tool bar you can do JUST THAT with the right search engine. So, I create the right search engine for issued patents (this engine) and then or patent applications (the OTHER search engine).
What's next for PatentlyUseful(tm) Patent Number Search Engine
While it would be nice to automatically include the manage aspect of setting "p #######" enter into the URL bar, as you have to do it yourself, there isn't the capability for Firefox search engines. If it is ever added I will update the search engines accordingly!
