Why was Open URIs created?
I made this add-on because I am interested in developing a protocol which allows client-side mash-ups, and downloading of file packages (see http://brett-zamir.me/webmets/ ) but realized that experimentation would be difficult if there were no fallback URLs. I am also interested in seeing sites like Wikipedia make their links (or links to Wikipedia) or at government sites be stated in a generic but usable manner.
What's next for Open URIs
I'd hope developers might try it out and offer feedback on both the extension and the proposed mark-up changes to .
