  • Firefox should do away with the separate search bar.
  • Love it when it works but it often grabs url and takes it into ones search engine, instead of to url's page itself. It's that behavior that made me remove it, sigh. [Windows 7/latest FF user]
  • Neat little addon that makes the Firefox user interface just a bit more sleek and attractive.
  • Its been a long time since I am using it and it is one of my must have extensions. It works great. Thanks.
  • I would like to see search results, but not search history. Unfortunately, I cannot set the search history count in settings to zero, only 1 is the minimum value.
    Please fix this. Thanks.
  • It works for half the time and doesn't work for the other half.
  • very useful, this is what the default should be.
there is no way to uninstall this without a complete reset of all firefox settings.
simply removing does not revert all changes made by the extension.
also causes many issues with toolbar/buttons/customizations.
Are you sure its Omnibar altering your toolbar customizations? It is a very simple addon that only adds search icons to the urlbar which should be removed automatically once you uninstall it.
  • My favorite addon stops working for a while and I have to stick to old version. I type in the address bar and hit enter, nothing happens.
UPDATE: It was a compatibility issue with tabLock_mod1.uc.js of the userchromeJS extension. Disabling the script makes Omnibar working again.
That is unexpected. Can you email me at ajit at distill.io with more info such as Firefox version and other addons that may conflict with Omnibar? Thanks!
  • My #1 complaint about this extension is that it disables Firefox's native ability to search open tabs with %. I've got 322 tabs open, and I need to be able to search them easily.

Also, I really don't want suggestions for search keywords. I want suggestions for actual websites...the search results themselves.

I really want something that works as seamlessly as Chrome's Omnibox. Having keywords for other searches is great, but 95% of the time, I just want it to default to Google. The other 4% of the time, I want it to search my open tabs, a function which seems to be disabled. Using % to search open tabs doesn't work at all. This is essential for me. Looking forward to improvements in future releases.
  • there's something wong with the syntax "@google,yahoo kw",it does not work, and will go to the search page of default search engine

    "@google,yahoo kw"這個語法有問題,會跳到百度的搜索頁面去
This is a known bug introduced in one of the last few updates. A fix will be available in next update. Thanks for reporting it.
  • Was looking for something that was basic. Does as I needed without trying to be too much. Thanks.
  • Works great! Thank you
  • use @google,duckduckgo [keywords] then open three tab,one is google search and another is duckduckgo,i don't know why it is this
  • Hey!

It seems, that after the latest release of Omnibar, the search with several operators isn't working as expected, f.i.:

    foo @abc,def,ghi

The first operator "abc" won't be counted here. Instead, the default search engine will be used. "def" and "ghi" will work though.

So the new version of Omnibar seems to skip the first operator when several operators are present. The same goes for

    @abc,def,ghi foo

Hoping for a quick fix and wishing all the best!

PS: Version is the last one, where multiple search is working correctly.
Good catch. Let me take and look and get a fix out. Thanks!
  • A great extension. One star less because sometimes after changing the search engine there isn't automatic focus in the bar, making it necessary to click again. And another less star because I like the possibility of the standard search bar to go in the search engine home page clicking on the magnifying glass icon.
I'm not a fan of the keyboard shortcuts, otherwise I would find this a perfect 5 stars extension.
  • Setting Firefox starts with a blank page = No search suggestions
Test with Firefox 32.0.3, a new profile.
Works with Firefox on Ubuntu but not on Windows. This unfortunately is a problem with Firefox on Windows.
  • The very latest build won't let you change the search engine with the latest nighlies, even in about:config. It's giving the message:

"TypeError: O._prefSvc.getBoolPref is not a function".

When omnibar is disabled it works again
Thanks for reporting, this will be fixed for nightlies ASAP.
  • Stopped working with latest Nightly.
    Fixed in latest update.
  • Trying to switch from chrome back to firefox, and now the search bar behaves how I want.
  • Najlepszy dodatek w historii firefoxa. Szukałem tego 2 godziny. Porzucam dziś google chrome.
