Makes the locationbar truly awesome! I replaced "Searchbar Autosizer" with this add-on. It works great in combination with "Peers". Only change I'd like is changing the function of the engine icon: On mouse-over, the tooltip should display the current search engine's name (useful when several searches use the same icon, like Google Images and News searches), the current help text is better put on the config screen. Left-click and right-click functions should be switched around, choosing the engine with left-click and changing configuration with right-click seem more intuitive. Middle-click could open the current engine's page in a new tab. Maybe those functions could also be made customizable. Can the icon's postion on the locationbar be changed? I'd like to have it at the very end of the bar since the search bar came behind the location bar, now the search icon is in front of other symbols like the favorite star icon, I'd rather customize that as well. Finally, THANKS for this great add-on, I hope it's out of "experimental" status soon...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.3b).
I appreciate your comments. Some were really good and will make it more usable.
Sure to get done:
1. On mouse-over, the tooltip should display the current search engine's name.
2. Left-click and right-click functions should be switched around. - A few people did ask me the same thing but I postponed considering that it maybe less intuitive for people who started it using early on when there was no right-click option.
Not sure about: "Middle-click could open the current engine's page in a new tab. Maybe those functions could also be made customizable." - Clicking on the search engine icon may lead to confusing behavior wrt Go button that should do the same job!
Another proposal for: "Can the icon's postion on the locationbar be changed?" - Instead of making this customizable (maynot be available as an option) how about making it visible when you need it. I have a feeling that it is leading to cluttering of the location bar which makes you want to remove/deprioritize(show at the end) it. If you have noticed the arrow/go button in the location bar, that maybe a good behavior for the search engine icon as well.
