This Extension is quite handy for saving space on the URLbar for HTTP addresses. I have been testing it with the tgrsc Extension Glassy Urlbar and found no evidence of mutual interference.

One combination of preferences, that I use between this Extension, the aforementioned tgrsc Extension, and the patrickjdempsey Extension Combine Buttons, utilizes the combined Stop/Reload between Back and Forward ( [ Reload Stop * { Throbber Back/Forward [ Home URLbar ), with the following Settings this Extension:

*Always show Go button
*Hide the Bookmark button (said button being redundant where Bookmark This Page Plus is used)
*Hide Security Info (optional)

I deliberately unset "Yellow on secure Webpages" as a hedge against visual artifacts from potential interference with Glassy Urlbar. The aforementioned should work nicely with any Strata-based Theme.

GO button? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

nice addon!

BUT... The "GO" button still appears?

i suggest that you permanently remove the "GO" button as a default, even when you untick the "Always display GO button"

hope this will be solved on the next update...

Does NOT behave the exact same way as FF2's location bar / address field.

This is a good attempt, and it's better than the incredibly nerfed bar in FF3... but while it "looks" the same as the normal address field; it does NOT behave like it. No matter what combination of settings you use, it's impossible to get it to act the same way as FF2's.

This is very sad, since FF2's was sheer brilliance, without any of the BS introduced in FF3.

I've used this for months now, and will keep using it, because there no alternative.

I really hope the author of this addon will improve upon it and perhaps add an option that says "Mimic FF2 behavior exactly".

Then, this addon would truly be beyond excellent.

...

If I could have, don't you think I would have? The whole original point of my add-on is to mimic FF2's as close as possible. And this is as close as possible it can get without me actually releasing a modified version of Firefox.

One of my must have have add ons.

Thanks for adding the option to disable the go button, and all the other option you added in fact. With that, this add on is now perfect for me.

Thank you.

This addon is a MUST HAVE. Because of the new location bar and it's odd behavior, I was ready to switch to Google Chrome, however I found this add on and it works very well. Why Firefox 3 won't let the user control location bar behavior I can't understand, but this add on does a great job fixing it.

Excellent addon. My only gripe is I can't middle-click on a location bar match and have it open in a new window/tab.

Excellent!

I accidentally updated my old FF 2.5 and hoped that someone had done this add-on, since I hated the new location bar and didn't find the old Firefox from downloads.

This hasn't been tested very well on a Mac -- in the Mac version of Firefox 3.5, the bottom 20% of all the options dialog-boxes in this add-on's preferences are cut off.

Any suggestions? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The active add-ons I have now are Mr Tech Toolkit and Old Location Bar, I see that OLB set my browser.urlbar.default.behavior to 48 and my browser.urlbar.match.behavior to 3. I still can't seem to get the location bar to display a GO button...Are there any other changes I need to make with about:config? Any suggestions?

I need to know what version of Firefox your using and what Operating System your running. And check the new options menu I introduced to see if the option to show the GO button is checked.

I unloaded all my add-ons because I was very disappointed with the location bars actions and then loaded Old Location Bar. It seemed to work for a moment - I got the GO button and all, but when I opened a new tab, it all went back to what it was and I haven't been able to make it Old again. So, here's what I did to solve my problem with the location bar always initiating a google search and not taking me to the URL I typed in (I couldn't even get to about:config..):
For anyone who has upgraded to Mozilla Firefox 3.5 and hates the way the URL (address) bar always shows a list of googled sites instead of accessing the site you typed in, the solution I found is to go to View | Toolbars | Customize | Add New Toolbar then name it whatever you like and drag the Location icon to it. When... you type in that box it will take you to the site you requested, NOT google search.....you will still have the other location (search) bar.

Tab problem with this add-on? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hi, your add-on looks ok but wasn't quite what I was looking for so I unistalled it again. However, it seems my firefox has now 'lost' it's ability to save and restore my tabs when closed. It asks regards saving but doesn't restore when re-loaded. Can you advise, and for those of you who have this add-on do you ahve same issue/resolved it?
Many Thanks
