Let's try to have a real bar! Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I just register ONLY to try this addon to TRY to delete the not awesome at all bar.

Nice - but.... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The real way to get FF2 behavior back is to do what I've done - uninstall this FF3 awfulbar crapola and rollback to FF2 until they wake up and offer the old behavior as a real option.

No yellow bar Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It's an improvement over the default bar and saves me fiddling with userChrome.css or about:config but for me the bar never turns yellow on secure pages so I still have to keep my eye out for the little icon turning blue.

Hey

Would you mind tell me what Operating System you are running? And are you using the newest version of Firefox? The official release.

Righteous add-on, though this should be considered a fix/patch... all they had to do was leave an option like autocomplete.NOTsucky and it would have saved a bit of work - and a LOT of frustration.

Request to you: consider making the results listbox either resizeable, or have an option allowing for a MaxSize setting.

Thank you for your work!

Good, but... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Wow, sorry, looks like my line breaks got screwed up. Lemme try this again:

Good, but a couple suggestions:

I would like to see an option to change the behavior between "Firefox 2 behavior" and

"Firefox 3 behavior". I don't have a problem with the way Firefox 3's location bar

*behaves*, I just hate (really, really, really *hate*) the way it looks. I know I could

use "oldbar" instead of this ("oldbar" changes the look back to FF2, but not the

behavior), but then I'd loose the really nifty "yellow background on a secure page"

feature that this addon gives me.

Also, the color is wrong on the right-side column (ie, the page titles). It makes it

nearly invisible on my system (light-on-dark color scheme). In the *real* firefox 2 it's

perfectly readable:

Firefox 2:
http://www.semitwist.com/download/locationDropdownFF2.png

Firefox 3 with either "oldbar" or "Old Locaion Bar":
http://www.semitwist.com/download/locationDropdownFF3oldbar.png

(The Firefox 3 screenshot was taken with "oldbar" instead of "Old Locaion Bar", but the page tiles on the right side looks identical.)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).

Nothing..

Nothing I can do about that.

Because this add-on modifies the look of Firefox 3 a bit.

It can conflict with some Themes people might use.

There is nothing I can do about this, no way to make the add-on compatible with every single Theme out there.

I`ve tried`extension`.Thankyou for hard workings,I look happily to day when extension is only searching of `URL`,and retains orderly searching of `FF2`

Old Location Bar = *finally* Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Since the Awesomebar in ff3 is apparently here to stay (no options to disable it), this is the best solution for all of us who would like things to be like we're used to.

It's a huge step back to sanity ! I've read the other reviews and replies. Am I right in thinking you are working on getting the ordering the same as in FF2 (newest at the top) ?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).

Thats not..

That's not how FF2's worked. FF2's ordered it by most visited. It looked threw your history and the URL's you have typed.

And yes that is what we are working on.

Options greyed out Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Does anyone know why the Options button for this extension is greyed out? Thanks.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).

Not yet implemented

Because I have not created an options menu for it yet. That is a complicated thing to create.

But it will be there in future versions. Allowing you to customize all the features of the add-on.

I just installed FF3 and I was shocked to see the new bar. It's absolutely horrible. :(

This add-on saved my day though. ;)

Thank god we have these add-ons or I would have been forced to switch to another browser. :o

Excellent AddOn! It would be nice to be able to get rid of that star icon for bookmarking the page for those of us who don't use Firefox Bookmarks. :)

Many thanks for offering a solution for the way cluttered-up "awesome" bar look/behaviour.

While I don't like that such fundamental changes are not tweakable from the Firefox preferences GUI, I appreciate this add-on so very much. Making Firefox nice and useable again! :)

This is great. Thanks so much. The new location bar is just... not what I wanted and I'm glad this came up. Thanks again!

Great! Much appreciated. Only thing I don't agree is with "MatchOnlyTyped" "true", since the old bar didn't have this behavior and searched also for URLs visited through clicking.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).

only temporary

It's only like that until we can solve the problem of the url bar searching in a websites description.

Once we remove that feature, the match only type will be disabled.

Thanks! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Let me add my voice to the chorus of those thanking you for this add-on :)
I have just d/l'ed and installed FF3, and *immediately* realised that the so-called "Awesome Bar" was just damned annoying. If I type "news" in the address bar, I want it to behave like FF2 and list sites I've been to (news.bbc.co.uk, news.com, etc etc) - not go off and search my bookmarks and half the Internet as FF3 seems to do. Your add-on restores my faith in Firefox. Thanks once again, and let's hope the devs listen to their users. Yes, adding new features is generally good - and we all now that people are often averse to change - but such a clamour about this feature surely indicates that the devs have to reconsider.
