It's a huge step back to sanity ! I've read the other reviews and replies. Am I right in thinking you are working on getting the ordering the same as in FF2 (newest at the top) ?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).

Thats not..

That's not how FF2's worked. FF2's ordered it by most visited. It looked threw your history and the URL's you have typed.

And yes that is what we are working on.

Options greyed out Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Does anyone know why the Options button for this extension is greyed out? Thanks.

Not yet implemented

Because I have not created an options menu for it yet. That is a complicated thing to create.

But it will be there in future versions. Allowing you to customize all the features of the add-on.

I just installed FF3 and I was shocked to see the new bar. It's absolutely horrible. :(

This add-on saved my day though. ;)

Thank god we have these add-ons or I would have been forced to switch to another browser. :o

Excellent AddOn! It would be nice to be able to get rid of that star icon for bookmarking the page for those of us who don't use Firefox Bookmarks. :)

Many thanks for offering a solution for the way cluttered-up "awesome" bar look/behaviour.

While I don't like that such fundamental changes are not tweakable from the Firefox preferences GUI, I appreciate this add-on so very much. Making Firefox nice and useable again! :)

This is great. Thanks so much. The new location bar is just... not what I wanted and I'm glad this came up. Thanks again!

Great! Much appreciated. Only thing I don't agree is with "MatchOnlyTyped" "true", since the old bar didn't have this behavior and searched also for URLs visited through clicking.

only temporary

It's only like that until we can solve the problem of the url bar searching in a websites description.

Once we remove that feature, the match only type will be disabled.

Thanks! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Let me add my voice to the chorus of those thanking you for this add-on :)
I have just d/l'ed and installed FF3, and *immediately* realised that the so-called "Awesome Bar" was just damned annoying. If I type "news" in the address bar, I want it to behave like FF2 and list sites I've been to (news.bbc.co.uk, news.com, etc etc) - not go off and search my bookmarks and half the Internet as FF3 seems to do. Your add-on restores my faith in Firefox. Thanks once again, and let's hope the devs listen to their users. Yes, adding new features is generally good - and we all now that people are often averse to change - but such a clamour about this feature surely indicates that the devs have to reconsider.

Location Bar is back the way I like it.

Not my fault

That means your download was corrupted.

Other people have downloaded the file and installed it fine. It seems to be a connection issue with Mozilla's website. Try re-downloading it again.

Does not download and install !!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Over the last 48 hours, the install process has been broken. This is what it tries to download: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/31325/old_location_bar-1.3-fx.xpi

The error implies that there is a "hash" problem in the downloading process/code. Is there another source for this extension?

Still doesn't override FF3's completely dumb autocomplete algorithm, nor am I sure than any add-on can. Type a single letter into the URL bar to see what I mean. But big bonus points for auto-restoring the https: yellow stripe :) If you are out looking for plugins like this to kill the Supposedly Awesome Bar, GO TO HENDRIX.MOZILLA.ORG AND LET THE FF DEVELOPERS KNOW they need to make FF2-behavior regression available to us in preferences! Frankly, this is nothing short of an outrage.

The location bar was the only complaint I've experienced with FF3. This definitely solved my problem. A great download!

Thanks Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Thank you for interesting in this problem.

I would to ask you if, with your next update, it will not search also inside address bar. I explain it better:

if I write "go" in the address bar, in the menu it appear "google.com" (OK) and also "espn.go.com" (BAD).

I prefer only autocomplete address and not searche inside this. I hope I'm explain ;)

Thanks again.
