I found this add-on on Lifehacker, and it works like a charm. Maybe there are hiccups I have not found yet, but the idea is simply brilliant. Thanks a lot to the author.
I have a real hangup about wasting paper (and ink, but mostly because of the price). Older versions of this did not affect printing, but now it does. The author of this addon has saved a lot of trees.
Now I wish I could reset margins and widths (for block-level elements). I can do this with Stylish, but it takes forever. Just eliminating them is enough. HTML and CSS will default to 100%.
I can also get rid of images that gross me out and pictures of people I don't like.
Great addon and potential.
1. Keyboard shortcut for removing item
2. Ability to remove whole section- such as a pulldown menu that takes a bunch of removes of each item before removing the menu
A keyboard shortcut would make this much easier.
Simple, yet brilliantly effective. Small footprint, which I like. Excellent support, too.
Very convenient! Now I can print out only the interesting parts of web pages. Much less waste of paper & ink!
Amazing!! This works perfectly. Thank you very much.
Over the years I've settled on 6 tried-and-true add-ons. Nuke is one of them.
i gotta admit this is an amazing addon which shoes what firefox is capable of
probably the only problem with this is that if there is one thing i want to remove in every page, like the search bar in this site, it will only remove it in this page, not the rest of the site
add this with adblock element hiding helper to get rid of anything including flash
Perfect for my printing on wolfram.com!
Of all the apps I use every day, Image Zoom and Nuke Anything are perennial winners. AND, despite what others have claimed, you CAN get rid of flash objects, but you have to click right on the exact pixel of the enclosing object's border.
Incredibly helpful, especially on slow machines and during times of low patience with stupid web 'design'.
The only thing I'd add is the option to have a keyboard (or keyboard+mouse) shortcut, to make it easier to remove several things quickly. Apart from that, which isn't all that necessary (but would make for some fun office games), this is an excellent tool.
Too bad it does not work on Flash objects. Flash objects are way too common in today's websites.
You should rename menu items to HIDE everything else or HIDE selection. Because yhis addon not remove contet, but hides it only... The good idea with "remove everything else", but will be better, if it will really removed, not hided.
When I save clened webpages with MAF or UnMHT extensions, my login and all ads still remain in the saved pages, but in "hidden" state. As the alternative I use the "Delete selection" addon from https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/index-en.html
See how this extension really remove an html content, and improve your own extension too.
I love this extension!
But wish it were compatible with Firefox 3.1 Beta 3!
How does it compare to https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/79 ?
Amazing, test it out on this post, it's fun even!
Thanks for this add-on, Very useful for cleaning pages in detail before printing.
I use also "http://www.printwhatyoulike.com" to clean less finely, but with a selection assistance very fast.
It would be great to be abble to use both together or use a similar method for selection with the add-on.
great, but wish submenu in context for a neat look of a bunch of context options.
I N D I S P E N S A B L E !!!
Excellent plugin. Très utile pour nettoyer un peu la page avant une impression.
Parmi les extensions qui me sont le plus utiles (mes autres indispensables : "Bookmark Duplicate Detector", "Bookmark Backup" et "FlashBlock").
For permanent removal of an item, I find the extension yarip (yet another remove it permanently) to be the best that I've tried. It's a little trickier to use than RIP (Remove it permanently) but I found that rip does not work on My Yahoo and that I frequently had to redo my editing on other sites like CNN or FoxNews.
But have yet had to redo with yarip. And it works with My Yahoo.
Hey I really like your extension. Could you create a function that allows the space the item takes up to remain but be clear of the object? In the case of facebook if I remove an item it disturbs the orientation of other objects on the page. Thanks for your great extension!
I've added a german translation and added support for ff 3.0.1.
It's available here:
@Patrick Abi Salloum
could you please add the german translation?
